Officially released by Miami The Dolphins released Mostert on Friday.

Impact This was the expected move after Mostert's agent, Brett Tessler, announced it was going to happen earlier in the day Friday. Mostert turns 33 years old in April and is coming off a down 2024 season, rushing 85 times for 278 yards and two touchdowns across 13 games, just one year after leading the NFL with 18 rushing scores. The move clears over $2.97 million in cap space for the Dolphins. De'Von Achane and Jaylen Wright currently sit atop the depth chart in the backfield for Miami, and Mostert will look for another team as a free agent.

Expected to be released by Miami The Dolphins informed Mostert that he will be released this offseason, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Impact The move isn't yet official, but the Dolphins have informed Mostert's agent, Brett Tessler, of the impending move. It's a no-brainer for Miami and will clear more than $2.97 million against the salary cap. Mostert is coming off an extremely down year, rushing just 85 times for 278 yards and two touchdowns across 13 games just one season after leading the NFL with 18 rushing scores. De'Von Achane took over clear RB1 duties for the Dolphins, and even Jaylen Wright was playing ahead of Mostert for much of the year. Mostert turns 33 years old in April and may be running out of gas at this stage of his career.

Plays one offensive snap in finale Mostert played one snap on offense and did not log a carry or target during Sunday's 32-20 loss to the Jets. He also played one snap on special teams.

Impact Mostert's disastrous 2024 campaign ended on a fittingly quiet note, as he totaled 85 carries for 278 yards and two touchdowns across 13 regular-season appearances. The veteran running back also secured 19 of 23 targets for 161 yards. Mostert's production totals in 2024 stand as a sharp contrast to his 2023 numbers, in which he scored 21 times and surpassed 1,000 yards. The 32-year-old remains under contract with Miami for 2025, but the Dolphins have the option of a potential out for only $1 million in dead cap.

Huntley will get more practice reps than injured Tagovailoa ahead of Dolphins' must-win game at Jets

There are several unknowns for the Miami Dolphins entering their regular-season finale, beginning with their starting quarterback

Inefficient in Week 17 win Mostert rushed six times for three yards during Sunday's 20-3 win over Cleveland. He also secured both of his targets for 16 yards.

Impact Mostert, De'Von Achane and Jeff Wilson were all inefficient out of the backfield versus the Browns, despite a game script in which Miami got out to an early lead and would have benefited from an ability to lean on the run. He'll attempt to bounce back Week 18 against the Jets, a divisional matchup in which a win could provide the Dolphins with a playoff berth.

DECEMBER 30, 2024 • ROTOWIRE

Double-digit touches in Week 16 win Mostert rushed eight times for 31 yards during Sunday's 39-17 win over the 49res.

Impact Mostert also secured both of his targets for 15 yards during Sunday's win over San Francisco, who were eliminated from playoff contention before kickoff. De'Von Achane (190 scrimmage yards and one touchdown on 24 opportunities) remains the clear lead option out of the backfield for Miami, but Mostert has reclaimed his grip on the No. 2 role since returning from his one-game absence due to a hip injury. He'll again help complement Achane on the road against Cleveland in Week 17.

DECEMBER 23, 2024 • ROTOWIRE

Musters 21 total yards in return Mostert rushed six times for eight yards and brought in all three targets for 13 yards in the Dolphins' 20-12 loss to the Texans on Sunday.

Impact Mostert made his return from a one-game absence due to a hip injury, but he finished with his third single-digit rushing yardage total in the last four games. Mostert's reception total was a new season high, but it's clear he's a distant second fiddle to De'Von Achane in Miami's unproductive ground attack barring an injury to the latter.

Cleared to play Week 15 Mostert (hip) doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Texans and is expected to play, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.

Impact After limited practices Wednesday and Thursday, Mostert got in a full session Friday and is ready to return following a one-game absence. It's been a challenging 2024 for the 32-year-old running back, compiling a 65-236-2 rushing line, averaging a career-low 3.6 yards per carry. He'll help spell De'Von Achane versus Houston.

Optimism for Week 15 Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said Friday he's "optimistic" Mostert (hip) will be able to play Sunday versus the Texans, Travis Wingfield of the Dolphins' official site reports...

Impact Mostert has been limited in practice as of late due to a hip injury, the same issue that forced him to sit out Week 14 against the Jets. Even if active at Houston on Sunday, though, Mostert's opportunity share isn't guaranteed to bring fantasy relevance. The veteran has combined for just 10 carries for just 10 carries for 22 yards across his last four appearances, in addition to five grabs for 46 yards on seven targets.

DECEMBER 13, 2024 • ROTOWIRE

Remains limited at practice Mostert (hip) was limited at practice Wednesday, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Mostert, who was also limited at practice last week, was inactive for this past Sunday's game against the Jets. With that in mind, he'll need to practice fully by Friday in order to approach this weekend's game against the Texans without an injury designation. If Mostert remains sidelined, however, added Week 15 RB snaps would be available for Jaylen Wright and Jeff Wilson.

Officially inactive Mostert (hip) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Jets.

Impact Mostert practiced in limited fashion throughout the week, but that won't be enough for him to suit up for Miami's Week 14 divisional matchup. De'Von Achane will continue to handle the majority of touches out of the backfield, though Jaylen Wright should see a bump in his role.

Is Raheem Mostert playing today? Injury updates for Dolphins RB Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert is dealing with a hip injury. Here are the latest updates.

DECEMBER 8, 2024 • USATODAY.COM

Impact Mostert was able to practice all week, but only in a limited fashion. He was given a tag of questionable heading into the weekend, and it appears he is in line to miss his first contest since Week 4. If that's the case, Jaylen Wright would likely work as the top backup to De'Von Achane in the Dolphins' backfield.
