Impact Johnston needed just one catch to set a season high in receiving yards, but he was tackled at the 1-yard line to keep him without a touchdown this season after consecutive eight-touchdown regular seasons. The Chargers proceeded to back up 11 yards from there and settled for a field goal. Johnston has caught a deep pass in each of the past two games, securing a 44-yard catch in the Week 5 loss to Seattle prior to the 57-yard catch against the Chiefs. The 2023 first-round pick has just eight catches through five appearances heading into LA's Week 7 bye.

Dealing with chest injury Johnston was limited at Wednesday's practice due to a chest injury.
Impact The Chargers' receiving corps is banged up at the moment, with all of WR Ladd McConkey (foot, DNP on Wednesday), WR Brenen Thompson (quadriceps, LP) and TE Charlie Kolar (forearm, LP) dealing with health concerns, and WR KeAndre Lambert-Smith (hamstring) and TE David Njoku (fibula) on IR. Johnston has had every opportunity to produce this season, with at least a 75 percent snap share in all four games, but he so far has just nine touches for 111 yards from scrimmage and no TDs. Assuming McConkey isn't able to play Sunday versus the Broncos and Johnson suits up, the latter could be the unquestioned No. 1 pass catcher for QB Justin Herbert.

Impact Despite Ladd McConkey (foot) playing just 24 of 71 offensive snaps, including zero in the second half, Johnston was a ghost most of the afternoon before hauling in a deep ball in the fourth quarter. Johnston continues to pace the team in snaps and routes at wide receiver, but he has little to show for it this season, posting just seven catches for 108 yards and no touchdowns on 19 targets. Johnston won't be a recommended fantasy play next Sunday against the Broncos, even if Patrick Surtain (ankle) and Riley Moss (ribs) are still banged up.
