Likely getting RFA tender Broncos GM George Paton said the team plans to give Lindsay (hip/knee) a restricted free agent tender, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
Impact The first option, a second-round tender, would all but ensure Lindsay stays with the Broncos, though it also costs $3.38 million. An original-round tender, on the other hand, costs only $2.13 million, but it also means there's no draft-pick compensation involved, which makes other teams far more likely to sign the running back to an offer sheet. While injuries defined his 2020 campaign, Lindsay has largely been an effective runner for the Broncos, and he could take on added importance in September if Melvin Gordon gets a three-game suspension for his DUI arrest. Lindsay missed the final two weeks of 2020 with a hip and knee injuries, but there hasn't been any report of offseason surgery or a lengthy recovery period.

Impact Perhaps Lindsay was pressing too hard to prove his value, but injuries also seemingly played a role in his reduced output in 2020. After breaking the 1,000-yard rushing threshold in both of his first two NFL seasons, Lindsay sat out five games during the most recent campaign to finish with 530 scrimmage yards and one total touchdown. He dealt with myriad injuries, including a hip/knee issue that kept the 26-year-old inactive Weeks 16 and 17. Defenses were also able to key in on Lindsay as a rusher, with Gordon serving as the clear No. 1 pass-catching back. Lindsay said that he's going to take a different mental approach in 2021, but it remains unclear whether he'll stay with the organization. He's a restricted free agent this offseason, while Gordon is on the books for 2021 but could face a potential suspension to begin the season due to a DUI arrest that occurred in mid-October.

Impact Coach Vic Fangio noted that with the team off for Christmas, "maybe" Lindsay will be able to practice Saturday before the team heads for Los Angeles.
