INJURIES

Listed as limited Thursday Lindsay's status on Thursday's practice report has been upgraded to limited after he was able to participate in some individual drills, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
Impact While Lindsay still isn't in the clear for Sunday's game against the Chargers, he is moving the right direction as he progresses through the league's concussion protocol. What's he able to do at practice Friday will no doubt be pivotal with regard to his Week 8 status.

Still not practicing Lindsay (concussion) didn't practice Thursday, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
Impact Though he's officially logged back-to-back practice absences, Mike Klis of 9News Denver notes that Lindsay did non-contact individual drills Thursday, as he continues to ease his way through the NFL's concussion protocol. We'll revisit the running back's status Friday to see if he progresses to the point where he can practice, either fully or in a limited fashion.

Not practicing Wednesday Lindsay (concussion) won't practice Wednesday, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
Impact With Lindsay in the NFL's concussion protocol and not yet able to practice, he'll need to gain clearance from an independent neurologist in order to suit up Sunday against the Chargers. In the event Lindsay is forced to miss his fourth game of the season, Royce Freeman would be in line for added work in Week 8 behind starter Melvin Gordon.

Concussion confirmed Lindsay won't return to Sunday's game versus the Chiefs due to a concussion, James Palmer of NFL Network reports.
Impact Lindsay ran roughshod over the Kansas City defense in the first half, churning out 79 yards on nine carries. With Lindsay's immediate future now cloudy, Melvin Gordon is poised for a workhorse role, while Royce Freeman may make a temporary jump up the Broncos' running back depth chart.

Tops century mark as lead back Lindsay rushed 23 times for 101 yards but wasn't targeted in the passing game in Sunday's 18-12 win over New England.
Impact Lindsay worked as the lead back in his return from a toe injury with Melvin Gordon sidelined by strep throat, and he responded with the sixth 100-yard rushing performance of his three-year NFL career. Royce Freeman mixed in with 30 scrimmage yards on eight carries and one reception, and Lindsay's lack of involvement in the passing game was disappointing. Still, Lindsay's rushing prowess should earn him a sizable share of Denver's backfield snaps moving forward, even if Gordon's able to return in Week 7 against the Chiefs.
OCTOBER 18, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Starting on Sunday Lindsay will act as the primary back with Melvin Gordon (illness) ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Patriots, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
Impact Lindsay will slide into the starting role after the Broncos chose not to have Gordon fly with the team to New England. The fact Gordon was cited for a DUI and speeding charges earlier in the week also complicates matters, though the NFL has yet to issue any sort of punishment regarding the alleged incident. Lindsay has not played since Week 1 due to a toe injury, but he's been a capable starter each of the past two years, accumulating back-to-back 1,000-yard rushing seasons.
OCTOBER 17, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
May lead backfield Sunday Lindsay may be the Broncos' primary running back Sunday in New England due to uncertainty surrounding Melvin Gordon's (illness) health, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
Impact Gordon's illness isn't related to COVID-19, but coach Vic Fangio said, "They've totally diagnosed what it is, how to treat it and there is a possibility the treatment will be quick & effective. If it's not, then he won't play." The running back also has a recent citation for driving under the influence hanging over his head. If Gordon ends up being inactive, Lindsay's sole competition for RB reps will be Royce Freeman, unless the Broncos make a short-term addition to the active roster. On the season, Lindsay has seven carries for 24 yards and one catch for 11 yards, all of them from Week 1, when he sustained a turf toe injury.

How Melvin Gordon's DUI charge, Phillip Lindsay's injury return changes Broncos' backfield Gordon faces potential discipline just as Lindsay approaches full strength.
OCTOBER 14, 2020 • SPORTINGNEWS.COM
Could start Week 6 Lindsay could lead Denver's backfield Sunday against the Patriots if Melvin Gordon (personal) receives a suspension, Troy Renck of Denver 7 News reports.
Impact Lindsay hasn't taken the field since Week 1 due to a toe injury, but he's on track to make a return from a three-game absence this weekend. While the Broncos would ideally ease Lindsay back into action as part of a timeshare with Gordon, the latter's arrest late Tuesday on DUI and speeding charges complicates his Week 6 status. Regarding Gordon, who didn't practice Wednesday, the Broncos remain in discussion with the NFL about possible disciplinary responses, which could include a suspension. In the event that Gordon is sidelined Sunday, Lindsay would stand to inherit the bulk of Denver's backfield work, while Royce Freeman would serve as his primary backup.
