Expected to play Saturday Surtain (lower leg) returned to practice Thursday and is expected to suit up for Saturday's preseason game against the Seahawks, Aric DiLalla of Broncos' official site reports.

Impact Surtain missed most of Tuesday's practice and all of Wednesday while dealing with lower leg soreness. The cornerback's return to Thursday's session is a step in the right direction for him to play in Week 2 of the preseason. Surtain will look to build upon his impressive performance in Week 1, in which the rookie scored a touchdown on a 30-yard interception return.

Impact Surtain is dealing with a lower leg issue described as soreness. The Broncos are taking a cautious approach and rested the rookie during Wednesday's practice. Surtain has had himself a great training camp, and he met high expectations during the Broncos' preseason opener with a pick-six in his first NFL action. Assuming Denver's first-round selection has no setbacks, the cornerback may be available for the team's next preseason contest against Seattle on Aug. 21.

Misses practice Surtain was pulled out of practice Tuesday with soreness in his lower extremities, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports.

Impact According to Coach Vic Fangio, Surtain could have continued practicing, but he was kept out as a precaution. The injury does not appear to be serious, so Surtain's availability for Denver's next preseason game against Seattle is likely not in question. The rookie cornerback is coming off an impressive debut in his first game action in which he scored a touchdown on a 30-yard interception return. Surtain also registered a pass breakup in the contest. The University of Alabama product will look to live up to the high expectations of being a ninth overall draft selection as a member of a defensive backfield with proven veterans Kyle Fuller and Ronald Darby. Surtain's strong technique should help him to make an impact immediately, especially since he may be playing in slot coverage often this season.
