Olamide Zaccheaus - NFL News, Rumors, & Updates

Limited practice Wednesday Zaccheaus (shoulder) was a limited participant at the Falcons' practice Wednesday, Daniel Flick of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Impact Zaccheaus appears to have picked up a shoulder injury during the team's 31-23 loss to the Bears in Week 6. The fact that he was able to practice in any capacity Wednesday would suggest that it is a minor issue, but the wide receiver will have two more chances to prove his health before Sunday's matchup with the 49ers.

Special teams perfection by the Falcons 🧠

Just one target Monday Zaccheaus failed to haul in his lone target during the Falcons' 45-24 win over the Saints on Monday.

Impact The Falcons relied more heavily on the running game Monday, with Michael Penix attempting only 20 passes while Bijan Robinson and Brian Robinson combined for 203 yards and five touchdowns on 33 carries. That left few targets to go around for the Falcons' pass catchers, with none other than Drake London (six) seeing more than three targets from quarterback Michael Penix. Zaccheaus' 21 offensive snaps were third-most among Falcons wide receivers behind London (51) and Jahan Dotson (36). However, despite entering the season as the team's WR3, Zaccheaus has just four catches (on seven targets) for 17 yards through the first four games of the regular season, and rookie wideout Zachariah Branch has seemingly taken over as Atlanta's primary returner on kickoffs and special teams. Up next for the Falcons is a Week 5 home showdown against the Ravens.

Two catches in Thursday's win Zaccheaus brought in both of his targets for nine yards and returned one punt for four yards during the Falcons' 35-14 win over the Packers on Thursday.

Impact Both of Zaccheaus catches occurred in the second quarter on the same drive, which ended with a 44-yard field goal by Nick Folk. Zaccheaus is up to four catches (on six targets) for 17 yards through three regular-season games while operating as a depth option in the passing game, though Thursday's win may have been the start for a more explosive offense for the Falcons with Michael Penix under center, rather than Tua Tagovailoa, Cooper Rush (coach's decision) or Jack Strand (coach's decision). The Falcons will travel to New Orleans to face the Saints on Monday, Oct. 5.

Plays versatile role in loss Zaccheaus caught one of three targets for three yards while returning four kicks for 79 yards in Sunday's 34-3 loss to the Panthers.

Impact Zaccheaus played 30 offensive snaps and seven special-teams snaps in Sunday's contest. The wide receiver and returner is a jack-of-all-trades, filling in and assisting wherever he can for a Falcons team that lacks depth in multiple areas due to injuries.

Catches sole target amidst many roles Zaccheaus caught his sole target for five yards and returned one kick for 29 yards in the Falcons' 20-13 loss to the Steelers on Sunday.

Impact Zaccheaus was the Falcons' WR3, QB3, and RB3 in Sunday's contest while also being the No. 2 kick and punt returner. The Renaissance man played many roles for the team but did not have a big night by the box score or snap logs. Zaccheaus played just 18 of the 60 offensive snaps for the Falcons and just five special teams snaps.

Jack-of-all-trades for Week 1 Zaccheaus will serve as the Falcons' WR3, the backup returner on punts and kickoffs and the emergency third option at both quarterback and running back for Sunday's regular-season...

Impact The Falcons have two quarterbacks (Cooper Rush and Jack Strand) and two running backs (Bijan Robinson and Brian Robinson) on the game day roster for Sunday's regular-season opener. Most of Zaccheaus' playing time figures to come on three-wideout sets as he works behind Drake London and Jahan Dotson, with rookie third-rounder Zachariah Branch also in the mix for offensive snaps.

Impact After stints in Philadelphia, Washington and Chicago, Zaccheaus opted to sign a one-year contract in March to rejoin the Falcons, whom he played four seasons for from 2019 to 2022. The Virginia product has eclipsed 500 receiving yards just once in the first seven years of his NFL career, but given the lack of reliable pass catchers behind London and tight end Kyle Pitts, Zaccheaus will have the chance to establish himself as Atlanta's WR2 in training camp. Dotson brings four years of NFL experience to the table, but Zaccheaus' biggest competition figures to come from the rookie Branch, who made a strong impression on coaches and players for his speed, explosiveness and playmaking ability during college and in OTAs.

Returning to Atlanta Zaccheaus is in line to sign with the Falcons, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Impact Zaccheaus previously played for Atlanta from 2019 to 2022, under Dan Quinn and Arthur Smith. The team is now led by Kevin Stefanski, who is badly in need of depth to support RB Bijan Robinson, WR Drake London and TE Kyle Pitts at the skill positions. Zaccheaus fits best as a No. 3/4 receiver, but he might get a crack at the No. 2 role if the Falcons don't bring in a bigger name. They're expected to release WR Darnell Mooney on Wednesday when the 2026 league year begins.

Minimal involvement late Zaccheaus was not targeted in the Bears' 19-16 loss to the Lions on Sunday.

Impact Zaccheaus played only six snaps and closed the season with 39 receptions on 65 targets for 313 yards and two touchdowns. He opened the year as the primary slot receiver but failed to record more than two catches in any of his final seven games as Luther Burden's role increased. He is set to hit free agency and profiles as a depth receiver entering 2026.

Logs full practice Wednesday Zaccheaus (illness) was a full practice participant Wednesday

Impact The Bears listed Zaccheaus and fellow WR DJ Moore as questionable due to respective illnesses ahead of this past Sunday's game at San Francisco, and while Moore was able to suit up, Zaccheaus was not. Now with an uncapped session under his belt, though, Zaccheaus is among four healthy options at the position on the team's active roster along with Moore, Jahdae Walker and Devin Duvernay. As for the other two, Rome Odunze (foot) continued to sit out practice Wednesday, while Luther Burden (quadriceps) was a limited participant.

Unavailable vs. 49ers Zaccheaus (illness) is inactive for Sunday night's contest against San Francisco.

Impact Zaccheaus was a late addition to Chicago's injury report due to an illness, and despite initially being initially listed as questionable to face the 49ers, he join Rome Odunze (foot) on the sideline for Week 17. DJ Moore (illness) is active for Sunday Night Football, meanwhile, despite having been added to the injury report in similar fashion to Zaccheaus. Behind Moore and Luther Burden, expect Devin Duvernay, Jahdae Walker and JP Richardson to see increased offensive reps at the wide receiver position Sunday.
