Activated off IR, will play Chubb (knee) will be activated off injured reserve and play in Sunday's game against the Texans, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Impact Coach Kevin Stefanski suggested Chubb would need to receive approval from the medical staff to play, so Saturday's designation should give fantasy managers plenty of confidence to insert the star running back into their lineups. It's entirely possible the Browns could still be cautious with Chubb's workload, particularly with Kareem Hunt's more-than-adequate foray as the starter, but it's hard to believe the team would activate Chubb if it didn't plan to play in some capacity. The matchup certainly couldn't be much better to get Chubb some confidence, as the Texans allow the most rushing yards per game in the NFL.

Impact Stefanski added that Chubb, who shed his right knee brace Thursday and participated in all individual drills, has hit all necessary milestones and avoided any setbacks. The Browns still could opt to take a cautious approach to Chubb's recovery and allow him another week of rest, but the 24-year-old's chances of returning Sunday at least look encouraging. In order for Chubb to be available against the Texans, the Browns would need to officially add him to the 53-man roster by Saturday afternoon. Through the first four games of the season, Chubb scored four rushing TDs and was averaging an outstanding 5.9 YPC.

Impact The news that Chubb shed the brace on his right knee was encouraging, and the running back looked good while participating in individuals, including catching passes, running in short bursts and making cuts. The quick cut ability is generally a good indicator of back's readiness for game action. The potential return of right guard Wyatt Teller (calf), who ProFootball Focus rates with a league-high 93.9 rushing grade, is another encouraging sign for Chubb. The Browns average 5.7 yards per carry behind right guard this season -- 7.2 over the first four games before Teller was injured. Head coach Kevin Stefanski is hopeful Chubb will play Week 10 against the Texans' 32nd-ranked rushing defense (159.5 YPG).

Impact Chubb has by all accounts looked good since returning to practice Monday, and that he's now managed to shed his knee brace is another positive sign.
