INJURIES

Irvin Charles - Added to active roster The Jets elevated Charles from the practice squad Saturday.
Impact Charles spent the preseason with the Jets before being waived as part of the team's final roster cuts in late August. The undrafted wideout has spent the entirety of his rookie campaign on the team's practice squad, and he's now in line to make his NFL debut during Sunday's regular-season finale against Miami. Charles, who caught four passes for 27 yards during the preseason, will likely slot into a deep reserve role alongside Braxton Berrios and Denzel Mims.

Brandin Echols - Out again Echols (quadriceps) will remain sidelined for Sunday's regular-season finale against the Dolphins.
Impact No surprise here, as Echols was a non-participant at practice all week. The absence will be his fourth straight due to a quadriceps injury he suffered in Week 14. Michael Carter again figures to be in line for a larger rotational cornerback role as a result.
JANUARY 7 • ROTOWIRE
Jordan Whitehead - Availability up in the air Week 18 Whitehead (hamstring) is considered questionable to play Sunday against the Dolphins.
Impact Whitehead popped up on Wednesday's injury report with a hamstring injury, which left him limited for each practice leading up to Sunday's regular-season finale. The fifth-year safety has recorded a career-high 85 tackles, seven passes defended and two interceptions across 16 games this season. With fellow starter Lamarcus Joyner (hip) already ruled out and Ashtyn Davis (ankle) questionable to play, it will be worth monitoring Whitehead's status on the Jets' final inactives list released 90 minutes ahead of Sunday's 1 pm E.T. kickoff.
JANUARY 6 • ROTOWIRE
Mike White - Not in line to start Sunday The Jets officially list White (ribs) as questionable for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, but head coach Robert Saleh previously said Friday that the quarterback won't play.
Impact Per Rich Cimini of ESPN.com, Joe Flacco is in line to start the Jets' season finale, with Zach Wilson slated to serve as the team's No. 2 quarterback. After practicing fully Wednesday, White was limited in practice on Thursday, and now he's in line to sit out after aggravating his rib injury last Sunday against the Seahawks. White revealed Friday that he's been dealing with five fractured ribs since initially suffering the injury Week 14 in Buffalo.

Seahawks expect Lockett for finale despite another injury

C.J. Uzomah - Questionable for Week 18 Uzomah (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Jets head coach Robert Saleh expects Uzomah to play, even after the tight end sat out Friday's practice. The Jets will turn to Joe Flacco as their quarterback for the season finale, and while Flacco will likely throw plenty of short passes, Tyler Conklin stands to benefit more than Uzomah among New York tight ends.

Mike White - Dealing with five fractured ribs White, who won't play in Sunday's game in Miami, revealed Friday that he's been playing through five fractured ribs, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Impact White was noticeably hampered when he tried to play through the injury in the Week 17 loss to Seattle, even after sitting out the Jets' previous two games. The 27-year-old quarterback will be a free agent at the end of the season, and it's possible the Jets view White as a candidate for the starting job in 2023. He finishes the 2022 season with 1,192 passing yards and a 3:4 TD:INT across four starts.

George Fant - No go for Week 18 Fant (knee) has been ruled out for Week 18 against the Dolphins, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
Impact Fant will miss the regular-season finale as he tends to the knee injury that he has been dealing with since September. With Duane Brown (shoulder) also out, Mike Remmers and Cedric Ogbuehi could step into starting roles Sunday in Miami.
JANUARY 6 • ROTOWIRE
Duane Brown - Ruled out for Week 18 Brown (shoulder) has been ruled out for Sunday's regular-season finale versus the Dolphins, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
Impact Brown will miss the Jets' final game of the season as he nurses the nagging shoulder injury that has bothered him all year. With George Fant (knee) and Nate Herbig (calf) also unavailable, New York will have to do a lot of shuffling on the offensive line against Miami. Cedric Ogbuehi and Mike Remmers are two likely candidates to step into starting roles.
JANUARY 6 • ROTOWIRE
Nate Herbig - Missing regular-season finale Herbig (calf) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
Impact Despite being able to partake in both Wednesday's and Thursday's practices on a limited basis, Herbig will ultimately extend his absence streak to two games now that he's already been ruled out this weekend as a result of a calf issue. Since fellow guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif (knee) has opened Week 18 prep with back-to-back DNPs, Dan Feeney appears the most suitable candidate to start at right guard versus Miami on Sunday.

Flacco to start for Jets in finale vs Dolphins, White out

Joe Flacco will start at quarterback for the New York Jets on Sunday, with Mike White ruled out against the Miami Dolphins because of a rib injury
JANUARY 6 • ASSOCIATED PRESS
Zach Wilson - Will dress for Week 18 Wilson will be active in Sunday's game against the Dolphins as the backup to starting quarterback Joe Flacco, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports.
Impact Earlier in the week, Jets head coach Robert Saleh said Wilson would remain a healthy inactive for the season finale, but the Jets opted for a change in plans while Mike White continues to tend to four fractured ribs. White was able to play through the injury in last week's loss to the Seahawks that ended the Jets' playoff hopes, and with little at stake in Week 18, the coaching staff won't take any chances with the injured signal-caller. Wilson will thus get one chance to suit up again before the season comes to a close, but the Jets likely won't plan to have him take any snaps Sunday unless Flacco exits early with an injury or performs poorly. The Jets are still likely to re-evaluate Wilson's future with the franchise this offseason after the 2021 No. 2 overall pick failed to show much notable improvement in his second NFL season.
JANUARY 6 • ROTOWIRE
Joe Flacco - Set to start season finale Flacco will start Sunday's regular-season finale against the Dolphins with Mike White (ribs) having been ruled out, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports.
Impact Even though head coach Robert Saleh said earlier in the week that White would make his second consecutive start, the Jets ultimately decided to hold White out for a meaningless season finale while he continues to deal with four fractured ribs. Rather than turning the offense over to embattled second-year quarterback Zach Wilson, the Jets will hand the assignment to Flacco, who previously started the Jets' first three games of the season. Meanwhile, Wilson will be active as Flacco's backup. The 37-year-old Flacco directed a pass-happy New York offense in the first three weeks, averaging 300.3 passing yards in those contests with a total of five touchdowns against three interceptions.
JANUARY 6 • ROTOWIRE
Mike White - Ruled out for Week 18 White (ribs) has been ruled out for Sunday's road matchup against the Dolphins, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports.
Impact White was initially set to make his second consecutive start to close out the season, but with the team having been eliminated from postseason contention with a Week 17 loss to the Seahawks, the Jets won't take any chances with the banged-up signal-caller in the finale. Joe Flacco is now in line to start Sunday with Zach Wilson dressing as his top backup, per Costello. White, who is still recovering from four broken ribs suffered in the Jets' Week 14 loss to the Bills, will finish the 2022 season with a 58.9 percent completion rate for 1,192 yards, three touchdowns and four interceptions to go with nine rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground over his four appearances.

Mike White - Limited practice Thursday White (ribs), who was listed as a full practice participant in Wednesday's walkthrough, was limited during Thursday's session, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Impact White's status thus is worth monitoring ahead of this weekend's game against the Dolphins, but unless the QB returns to a full practice Friday, he figures to carry an injury designation into the Jets' season finale. Earlier this week, coach Robert Saleh acknowledged that White was dealing with some rib soreness after Week 17 action but added that the signal-caller should be ready for Sunday's contest.
