GAME LOG

INJURIES

Sidelined for MNF Boykin (oblique) has been ruled inactive ahead of Monday's game against the Colts.
Impact Boykin was forced out with an oblique injury during last week's loss to the Bengals, and he only logged two limited practices ahead of Monday night's game. The 26-year-old has collected one of his two targets for 11 yards in 2022, though he'll now miss his first game of the season. With Boykin out, Diontae Johnson, George Pickens, Steven Sims, Gunner Olszewski and Cody White will operate as the Steelers' available wideouts Week 12.

Questionable for Monday Boykin (oblique) is listed as questionable for Monday's game at Indianapolis, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Impact After opening the week with a DNP on Thursday, Boykin managed back-to-back limited sessions as he deals with an oblique injury stemming from last Sunday's loss to the Bengals. The Steelers don't have to make any signings or elevations to bolster the receiving corps until Monday, so his status is entirely up in the air for Week 12.
NOVEMBER 27, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Limited participant Friday Boykin (oblique) practiced in a limited fashion Thursday, Chris Halicke of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.
Impact Boykin sustained an oblique injury during Sunday's loss to the Bengals and was unable to suit up during the first practice of Week 12 on Thursday. It's an encouraging sign to see the wide receiver back as a limited participant during Friday's session, though his status for Monday's game against Indianapolis is still up in the air. Boykin has accumulated just one reception while primarily playing on special teams over the first 10 games of the season, and he'll have one more opportunity to improve his activity before Saturday's final injury report.
NOVEMBER 26, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Absent from practice Boykin (oblique) didn't practice Thursday, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Impact Boykin sustained an oblique injury Sunday against the Bengals, and it was discouraging to see him absent from practice Thursday. If he hopes to suit up Monday against Indianapolis, he'll likely need to practice in some capacity later in the week.

Leaves with injury Boykin exited Sunday's game against the Bengals early with an oblique injury, Alan Saunders of PittsburghSportsNow.com reports.
Impact Boykin's current absence will leave the Steelers light on depth at wide receiver. He's considered questionable to return.

Embattled Steelers OC Canada: scoring issues 'all me'

Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Matt Canada says he's to blame for the team's scoring issues
OCTOBER 27, 2022 • Associated Press
Limited production Sunday Boykin secured his lone target for 11 yards during the Steelers' 38-3 loss to the Bills on Sunday.
Impact Although the Steelers attempted plenty of passes during Sunday's blowout loss, Boykin's playing time remained limited. He played mainly on special teams and was on the field for just five of the team's offensive snaps. As long as the Steelers' other receivers remain healthy, Boykin is unlikely to have a fantasy-relevant role in the team's offense.

Quiet against Jaguars Boykin (ribs) secured his lone target for nine yards during the Steelers' 16-15 preseason win over the Jaguars on Saturday.
Impact Boykin dealt with a hip injury over the last week, but the issue didn't prevent him from playing during Pittsburgh's second preseason matchup. However, he was on the field for just 14 percent of the team's offensive snaps after playing 41 percent during the preseason opener. The 2019 third-rounder will have one more chance to make an impact during the preseason Sunday against the Lions.
AUGUST 23, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Doesn't practice Monday Boykin didn't practice Monday due to a rib injury, Joe Rutter of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Impact Boykin was on the field for 41 percent of the Steelers' offensive snaps during Saturday's preseason opener against the Seahawks, and he secured two of three targets for 17 yards. However, he apparently sustained a rib injury that kept him off the field Monday. It's not yet clear whether he'll be available for the team's preseason tilt against Jacksonville this Saturday. Boykin could be on the roster bubble ahead of the regular season since George Pickens has made a strong impact during training camp.

Picked up by Steelers Boykin was claimed off waivers by the Steelers on Tuesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Impact The wideout will remain in the AFC North for the time being after he was waived by the Ravens on Monday. Boykin played 32 offensive snaps and was targeted just once in 2021 after starting the season on injured reserve due to a hamstring issue, going on to miss additional time while dealing with various other injuries. He saw 144 special-teams snaps over eight games, however, and could carve out a role for himself with Pittsburgh.

APRIL 18, 2022 • NEWSOBSERVER.COM
Cut by Baltimore The Ravens waived Boykin on Monday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
Impact Boykin had just one season with more than 300 yards at Notre Dame, yet ended up a third-round pick in the 2019 Draft on the strength of a 4.42-second 40-yard dash and 43.5-inch vertical (at 6-foot-4, 220 pounds). He then started 24 of 32 games his first two seasons in Baltimore, averaging 14.5 yards per contest while primarily serving as a blocker in a run-heavy offense. Boykin does have seven TDs among his 32 career receptions, but he finished 2021 without a catch in eight games and now figures to be on the roster bubble wherever he lands.
