Impact The Cowboys understandably aren't tipping their hand when it comes to how they'll deploy the dynamic rookie against the Eagles, but with Randy Gregory returning from the COVID-19 list this week only for Keanu Neal to be placed on it, Dallas may have a bigger need for Parsons back at his original position. The fact that the defense will need to find a way to contain Jalen Hurts, who already has 144 yards and a TD on the ground through two games, will also be a factor -- Parsons' speed and athleticism might be better utilized in the middle of the field rather than chasing Hurts off the edge. While the 2021 first-round pick has already shown he can make an impact no matter where he lines up, Parsons' IDP ceiling is much higher as a linebacker.

Though the 6-foot-3, 246-pound Parsons is expected to be a long-term mainstay in the Dallas linebacking corps, he'll at least temporarily move to defensive end out of necessity after DeMarcus Lawrence (foot) was placed on injured reserve, and Randy Gregory (illness) was moved to the reserve/COVID-19 list earlier this week. The Week 2 move to defensive end should present more pass-rushing opportunities for Parsons, but whether he sticks at the position beyond Sunday will likely be based on how he fares against the Chargers. While Lawrence's injury is a long-term concern, Gregory should be in line to return to Week 3 versus Philadelphia, helping to restore some depth on the edge.
