Impact Wright had already been expected to handle kicking duties this weekend after the Steelers signed him off the Chiefs' practice squad Wednesday, but Boswell's move to IR gives the former a more extended opportunity. Boswell will have to spend a minimum of four games on IR, clearing the way for Wright to continue to build on what's been a strong start to his NFL career. Despite having bounced around the league since going undrafted in 2019, Wright has converted 28 of his 32 field-goal attempts (87.5 percent) over 19 career games with the Steelers, Jaguars and Chiefs.

Catches on with Steelers Pittsburgh signed Wright off Kansas City's practice squad Wednesday, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.

Impact Wright made his NFL debut with the Steelers in 2020, but he's since had stints with the Jaguars and Chiefs, the latter of whom he appeared with in two games earlier this season. Over 19 career NFL games, Wright has converted 28 of 32 field-goal attempts and 28 of 30 extra-point tries. The Steelers' decision to sign him suggests that he'll likely serve as the team's kicker Week 10 against the Saints while Chris Boswell continues to tend to a groin injury following Pittsburgh's bye week.

Returns to practice squad Wright reverted to the Chiefs' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.

Impact Wright converted both of his field-goal attempts and all five of his PATs after being elevated to Kansas City's active roster in Week 4. The 26-year-old joined the Chiefs' practice squad last Tuesday to serve as the team's backup kicker behind Harrison Butker (ankle), who sat out for the third week in a row Sunday. Wright will now be eligible for two more game-day activations while on Kansas City's practice squad this season.

Set to kick Sunday Wright was elevated to the active roster Saturday and will kick for the Chiefs on Sunday with Harrison Butker (ankle) sidelined.

Impact Wright joined the Chiefs' practice squad earlier this week and won't waste any time jumping up to the active roster. The second-year kicker was relatively automatic last year with the Jaguars, missing just three of his 24 field goals, but all three of those misses came from 40-plus yards out. Conditions could be tricky with Sunday's game being played in Tampa Bay, as the state of Florida continues to deal with the damage from the most recent hurricane.

Secures practice squad deal Wright was signed to the Chiefs' practice squad Tuesday, Charles Goldman of USA Today reports.

Impact Wright was added by Kansas City, as starting kicker Harrison Butker, who returned to practice Wednesday, is still working his way back from an ankle injury suffered in Week 1. The practice-squad kicker went 34-of-39 on total kicking attempts over 14 games with Jacksonville last season, so he will provide a reliable backup option if Butker sits out once again this Sunday against the Buccaneers.

Perfect on six kicks in finale Wright made all four field-goal attempts and both PATs during Sunday's 26-11 win over the Colts.

Impact Wright made field goals from 20, 22, 31 and 39 yards and finished the campaign by making his last 14 attempts. The 25-year-old served as Jacksonville's kicker for 14 games, and he went 21-for-24 on field goals and 13-for-15 on extra points. Wright remains under contract for 2022 and should be the favorite to kick next season, though the Jags may bring in some competition.
