Officially placed on IR
The Texans placed Edwards (pectoral) on injured reserve Monday.
Impact
Edwards suffered a season-ending torn pectoral muscle during Houston's 40-20 win over the Cardinals in Week 15, so his placement on IR is nothing short of expected. With the veteran defensive tackle now sidelined, expect Naquan Jones to operate as the Texans' top rotational option at defensive tackle behind starters Sheldon Rankins and Tommy Togiai.

Edwards is expected to start in place of Denico Autry, who will serve a six-game PED suspension to begin the Texans' 2024 campaign, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Impact

Last year, Edwards appeared in 15 games and played 392 defensive snaps for the Seahawks, posting 21 total tackles, including 2.0 sacks, and one forced fumble. He's now expected to line up alongside Danielle Hunter to begin the Texans' 2024 season.
