Officially active Maye (calf) is officially active for the team's Week 1 contest against the Bills, Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York reports.

Impact Maye practiced on a limited basis twice during the week, enough to get him ready for the opening contest of the season. He'll pair with Bradley McDougald to start on the back end of the Jets' secondary.

Impact Maye logged two limited practice sessions this week, but he's made enough progress to play in the season opener. The 27-year-old will start at strong safety this season. Last season as a starter with Jamal Adams by his side, Maye produced 65 tackles, seven pass breakups and an interception, but it'll be a bit different this year with Adams replaced by Bradley McDougald.

Impact Maye wasn't able to take the practice field Thursday, so it's encouraging to see that he's returned in at least limited fashion. A final decision on his status for Week 1 won't be made until the weekend, but Matthias Farley and Ashtyn Davis would be in line for increased workloads if he were to miss any time.
