First-team billing on depth chart Washington is listed as a starting wide receiver on the Dolphins' unofficial depth chart.
Impact Miami almost entirely retooled its receiving corps this offseason, releasing Tyreek Hill in February, trading Jaylen Waddle to the Broncos in March, signing Jalen Tolbert in free agency and then drafting three WRs (Caleb Douglas, Chris Bell and Kevin Coleman) in the 2026 Draft. Washington is the only holdover from 2025, a season in which he hauled in 46 of 65 targets for 317 yards and three touchdowns while also rushing 17 times for 110 yards and one more TD. In addition to an expected increase in snaps while working with new QB Malik Willis, Washington again will serve as the team's primary kick returner and perhaps on punt returns as well.

Unproven & Unfazed Malik Willis Works To Assure Dolphins He's QB Of The Future
Not playing Saturday Washington is not playing in Saturday's preseason game against the Giants, C. Isaiah Smalls II of the Miami Herald reports.
Impact Washington played in the Dolphins' preseason opener against the Commanders on Friday, Aug. 14, when he caught three passes on as many targets for 15 yards. He'll be idle for Saturday's exhibition contest, so Jalen Tolbert, Tutu Atwell and rookie third-rounder Caleb Douglas are all in line for increased work.

Team-high catch total in preseason loss Washington brought in all three targets for 15 yards in the Dolphins' 20-7 preseason loss to the Commanders on Friday.
Impact The third-year pro's catch total led the Dolphins on the night, as Washington opened the game with the first-team offense and recorded his first two catches, which netted 12 yards, on Miami's first two plays from scrimmage. Washington recorded a career-best 46 receptions in 2025, and he currently heads up Miami's wide-receiver depth chart heading into the Dolphins' second preseason game on Saturday, Aug. 22 at home against the Giants.

Improves route running Dolphins offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik highlighted Washington's improvement as a route runner this offseason, C. Isaiah Smalls of the Miami Herald reports.
Impact The most noticeable improvement is his footwork and how he's getting in and out of breaks is really clean," Slowik said. "You can tell he's really, really bought in to how we want to release, and he's as good as he's looked since I've been here." Washington was primarily used near the line of scrimmage under former coach Mike McDaniel, but the new staff is allowing Washington to work more down the field this summer, and he's already showing strong chemistry with Malik Willis. Washington is in the mix for WR1 duties in Miami, along with guys like Jalen Tolbert, Tutu Atwell and rookie Chris Bell (knee), who remains on active/NFI.

Dolphins add three WRs in NFL Draft Washington (thumb) is facing increased competition for targets and snaps after Miami selected three rookie wide receivers in the 2026 NFL Draft, Julio Vasquez of USA Today reports.
Impact Washington remains a major beneficiary of the Dolphins' decision to trade Jaylen Waddle to Denver and cut Tyreek Hill (ACL) this offseason, with an argument to be made that he stands as the No. 1 WR for new QB Malik Willis even after Jalen Tolbert and Tutu Atwell were signed in free agency. Miami adding two third-round rookie wideouts in Caleb Douglas and Chris Bell (ACL), plus Kevin Coleman in the fifth round, doesn't necessarily knock Washington out of the mix for the top spot, but the 2024 sixth-rounder is now facing significantly more competition for targets in what may be a run-first offense led by RB De'Von Achane and Willis' dual-threat abilities. Washington posted 427 total yards on offense and four TDs while also thriving in the return game last season, and he's presumably recovered from the thumb injury he sustained Week 18.

Quiet in win over Bucs Washington secured one of three targets for four yards during Sunday's 20-17 win over Tampa Bay. He also carried the ball once for one yard.
Impact Washington failed to make a significant impact in the receiving game Sunday despite the fact that Jaylen Waddle was forced on the sideline due to a ribs injury midway through the second quarter and didn't return to action until late in the third. In all, Washington's most significant contribution to Miami's win over the Buccaneers may have been the 47-yard kick return he managed late in the third quarter. He'll have one more chance to demonstrate chemistry with Quinn Ewers in the Dolphins' regular-season finale on the road at New England in Week 18.

Rushing TD in loss Washington caught his lone target for 23 yards and rushed one time for a nine-yard touchdown in Miami's 45-21 loss to the Bengals on Sunday.
Impact After catching multiple passes in 13 of the first 14 games, Washington has now posted back-to-back one-catch games on a total of two targets. Washington, however, was able to salvage his box score with a nine-yard rushing score in the second quarter to give the Dolphins a 14-10 lead. Cincinnati would then go on to score 35 straight points to bury the Dolphins. Washington has minimal fantasy appeal headed into next Sunday's date with Tampa Bay.
