INJURIES

Absent from injury report Johnson (thigh) is not listed on the Texans' injury report ahead of Sunday's game against the Browns.
Impact Johnson was limited at Wednesday's practice, but it is now looking like Houston was just erring on the side of caution. Baring any setbacks, look for him to take on his usual role providing depth in the secondary.
SEPTEMBER 18, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Limited in practice Wednesday Johnson (thigh) was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday.
Impact Johnson suffered a thigh injury in the Texans' preseason finale and was forced to miss the season opener against the Jaguars. The defensive back's status for Houston's Week 2 contest against the Browns is considered uncertain. Johnson will likely fill a reserve role for the Texan's secondary when he's back to full strength.
SEPTEMBER 15, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Won't play Sunday Johnson (thigh) has been ruled out for Sunday's Week 1 matchup against the Jaguars.
Impact Johnson hasn't practiced all week due to a thigh issue, and the injury will keep him out for the season opener. It's not yet clear whether he'll be able to return for the Week 2 contest against the Browns, but he should serve as depth in the Texans' secondary once he's fully healthy.
SEPTEMBER 11, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Back at practice Johnson (leg) returned to practice Monday, independent NFL journalist Aaron Wilson reports.
Impact Johnson suffered a minor leg injury during Saturday's preseason matchup with the Buccaneers. However, his quick return to practice indicates the issue was not serious. The 25-year-old is expected to provide depth in the Texans' secondary this season.
AUGUST 31, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Suffers minor injury Saturday Johnson suffered a minor leg injury during Saturday's preseason contest against the Buccaneers, independent NFL journalist Aaron Wilson reports.
Impact Johnson and Eric Murray both suffered injuries Saturday, leaving Jonathan Owens as the only healthy strong safety on the Texans' depth chart. Johnson's injury is expected to be minor and shouldn't impact his availability for the season opener Sept. 12. The 25-year-old appeared in all 16 games for Houston last year, registering a career-high 76 tackles.

Back at practice Johnson (undisclosed) was activated from NFI list Tuesday, NFL reporter Aaron Wilson reports.
Impact Johnson is one of six safeties on the Texans' roster. After transitioning to the safety position last season, he'll use this camp to continue to compete for reserve reps behind incumbent starter Eric Murray.
AUGUST 4, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
On NFI list The Texans placed Johnson on the non-football injury list Wednesday with an unspecified issue, NFL reporter Aaron Wilson reports.
Impact Johnson will be sidelined for the start of camp as a result of the transaction. While transitioning from cornerback to safety last season, Johnson appeared in all 16 games and recorded 76 total tackles.

Transitions to safety in 2020 Johnson transitioned from cornerback to safety in 2020 and finished with 76 tackles.
Impact Johnson, drafted as a cornerback in the second round of the 2019 draft, successfully transitioned to safety in 2020. He was the team's top-graded safety, per Pro Football Focus. Johnson moved into a full-time role after Justin Reid's season-ending thumb injury in Week 14 and didn't miss a snap over the final three games. Johnson's contract runs through 2022, but his role is unclear pending sweeping changes on a defense that ranked 30th overall in the NFL (24th against the pass).
JANUARY 6, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
11 tackles against Bengals Johnson recorded 11 tackles (six solo) across 76 defensive snaps in Sunday's loss to the Bengals.
Impact Johnson set a new career high for single-game tackles, reaching the double-digit mark for the first time. He also played in 100 percent of the snaps on Sunday. Through 15 games this season, Johnson has recorded 72 tackles (55 solo).
DECEMBER 29, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Cleared for Week 15 Johnson (knee) is active for Sunday's game versus the Colts.
Impact Johnson will start at free safety in Sunday's divisional game despite being a late addition to the injury report Friday. The second-year defensive back has accrued 52 tackles through 13 games.
DECEMBER 20, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Late addition to injury report Johnson (knee) is questionable for Sunday's game versus the Colts, Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Johnson made his first appearance on the injury report Friday, as he was listed as a limited participant. If Johnson's ruled out, Jonathan Owens should pick up the excess reps behind starting safeties A.J. Moore and Eric Murray.
DECEMBER 19, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Registers eight stops Johnson recorded eight tackles (six solo) in Sunday's 26-20 loss to the Colts.
Impact Johnson played 68 percent of the snaps on defense and notched a new career high for tackles in a game. The second-year defensive back has started in just one game this season, but this is his third straight outing with more than 65 percent of the defensive snaps. Johnson will look to build on this performance in Week 14 against the Bears.
DECEMBER 10, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Dials up the blitz Johnson had five tackles and two quarterback hits in Sunday's 27-20 win over the Patriots.
Impact Johnson worked effectively as a blitzer, getting to quarterback Cam Newton twice and forced him to throw incomplete on a fourth down that sealed the win. The second-year backup safety plays all over the secondary for the Texans and has 32 tackles over 10 games while playing 51 percent of the snaps.
NOVEMBER 24, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Solid effort in win Johnson made six solo tackles -- one for a loss -- in Sunday's 27-25 win over the Jaguars.
Impact This was Johnson's second-highest snap share of the year, and he capitalized on the increased reps with a season high in tackles. Johnson's still behind starters Justin Reid and Eric Murray in terms of usage, so he'll be tough to depend on barring an injury to one of those two.
NOVEMBER 9, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Sticking at safety Johnson will continue to work at safety despite the injury to cornerback Bradley Roby (knee), Aaron Reiss of The Athletic reports.
Impact The 2019 second-round pick has been working as Houston's third safety throughout the first half of the season, and interim coach Romeo Crennel said, "We'd be doing the kid a bit of a disservice if we keep bouncing him from position to position. Right now, Lonnie is a safety." Johnson has 20 total tackles through seven games and should continue to play a rotational role at safety even if Roby is sidelined.

Expanding role Johnson (illness) is expected to have a larger role Week 4 with A.J. Moore (hamstring) landing on injured reserve, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact Johnson, who was a limited participant at Thursday's practice, filled in for Moore last Sunday and played a season-high 43 snaps (54 percent) in a loss to the Steelers. He's been the third safety to start the season but will see his role expand against the Cowboys, the league's top-ranked passing offense. Johnson's a big-bodied safety-cornerback, representing a physical prototype at the position, and gives the Texans a larger presence in the secondary than Moore.
