Cowboys add former CFL kicker with Zuerlein on COVID-19 list

Inks deal in Dallas The Cowboys signed Hajrullahu to their practice squad Wednesday, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Impact Dallas' typical kicker Greg Zuerlein was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday, and it's expected that he won't be able to complete league protocols in time to suit up Sunday against the Falcons. The team thus held a workout with Hajrullahu and Brett Maher on Wednesday, and the former came out on top after connecting on 12 of 12 field-goal attempts. Hajrullahu has bounced around the NFL the past two years, including a stint with the Cowboys this preseason, but he'll be making his debut this weekend if Zuerlein isn't cleared to play, getting elevated in the process.

Time up on practice squad The Cowboys are cutting Hajrullahu from the practice squad Tuesday, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Impact Hajrullahu spent one week on Dallas' practice squad providing depth behind Greg Zuerlein, but the team no longer feels a need for his services. The veteran kicker will be a candidate to resurface on a practice squad elsewhere in the league.

Waived from practice squad The Panthers waived Hajrullahu from the practice squad Monday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Impact Hajrullahu was signed by the Panthers last week. His work visa ran into issues, though, and he won't be eligible to play this season. The CFL star will look to make an NFL team in the 2021 campaign.

Waived by Rams Hajrullahu has been waived by the Rams.

Impact As was Austin MacGinnis, meaning that the Rams have decided to proceed with Sam Sloman as their kicker heading into Week 1. Hajrullahu will thus look to land an opportunity elsewhere or perhaps even on the L.A.'s practice squad.

Loses out to Sloman The Rams are planning to go with Sam Sloman as their kicker over Hajrullahu and Austin MacGinnis, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.

Impact The three had been competing for the job, but ultimately the team went with Sloman, a seventh-round draft pick. Hajrullahu is thus presumably slated to join the ranks of the kickers without teams, once league-wide cut-downs start rolling in.
