INJURIES
Practicing Wednesday Shakir (undisclosed) is on the practice field Wednesday, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.
Impact After being sidelined recently by an undisclosed injury, Shakir's presence on the field is an encouraging sign for the wide receiver's availability for Sunday's season opener against the Texans. He's expected to face added competition for targets from trade pickup DJ Moore and a healthy Dalton Kincaid this season.

Optimism regarding Week 1 Per Matt Zenitz of CBSSports.com, "there's currently optimism" that Shakir (undisclosed) will be available Week 1 against the Texans on Sunday, Sept. 13
Impact Since making an appearance preseason Week 1 on Aug. 15, Shakir has been sidelined due to an undisclosed injury, including no activity at Tuesday's practice. The Bills will post their first Week 1 injury report next Wednesday, and how he's listed then will provide a sense for his status ahead of the regular-season opener.
SEPTEMBER 2 • ROTOWIRE
Still not practicing Shakir (undisclosed) remains sidelined at Tuesday's practice, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.
Impact Shakir was able to suit up for preseason Week 1 against the Panthers on Saturday, Aug. 15, hauling in both of his targets for 41 yards while playing eight offensive snaps. However, he's been out of drills since Aug. 20 and didn't suit up for the Bills' final two exhibitions due to an undisclosed injury. Buffalo opens the regular season on Sunday, Sept. 13 at Houston, giving him less than two weeks to get himself ready for game action.

Not suited up Thursday Shakir (undisclosed) isn't in uniform for Thursday's preseason contest against the Steelers, Alex Brasky of SI.com reports.
Impact Shakir now will miss a second consecutive exhibition due to an undisclosed injury that has sidelined him for the past week. Fellow position mates Keon Coleman (foot/toe) and Tyrell Shavers (knee, active/PUP) also aren't suited up Thursday. Shakir will set his sights on getting healthy for the Bills' Week 1 road matchup with the Texans on Sunday, Sept. 13.

Browns Making Another QB Error? 7 Takeaways From Week 2 Of The Preseason
Won't play Saturday Shakir (undisclosed) won't play in Saturday's preseason game against Cleveland, Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News reports.
Impact Shakir will join DJ Moore, Keon Coleman (foot/toe), Joshua Palmer and Skyler Bell (lower body) on the sidelines for Saturday's exhibition contest. Shakir is currently working through an unspecified injury, and while it doesn't appear to be a severe issue, it could prevent him from playing in the Bills' preseason finale against the Steelers on Thursday.

Managing unspecified injury Shakir (undisclosed) didn't practice Tuesday due to an injury, Katherine Fitzgerald of The Buffalo News reports.
Impact The nature of Shakir's injury has not been revealed. He seems unlikely to suit up for Saturday's preseason game against the Browns, though no official declaration has come on that front. DJ Moore (lower body), Keon Coleman (foot) and Skyler Bell (lower body) are also dealing with injuries in Buffalo's banged-up wide receiver room.

Two grabs in preseason opener Shakir caught both his targets for 41 yards in Saturday's 29-14 preseason win over the Panthers.
Impact The fifth-year wideout caught the first pass attempt of the preseason from Josh Allen, connecting on a 21-yard gain that helped set up a field goal in the first quarter. Shakir started alongside DJ Moore (lower body), and both were productive while Buffalo's first-stringers were in the game. The offseason addition of Moore gives the team a true No. 1 wide receiver, but his presence on the outside shouldn't have a big impact on Shakir's volume in the slot. Shakir has topped 70 catches in back-to-back campaigns, averaging 74 receptions on 97.5 targets for 770 yards and four TDs while missing three total regular-season contests in those two years.

Impact Shakir is coming off a 2025 regular season in which he put together a 72-719-4 receiving line on a team-high 95 targets, marking the second year in a row he paced the Bills in that category. While Moore now projects as QB Josh Allen's top WR target, Shakir should still see enough volume out of the slot in 2026 to maintain a degree of fantasy PPR utility. Meanwhile, as Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic has previously noted, the other starting spot in 11 personnel (three receivers) is up for grabs as training camp approaches, with Joshua Palmer, Keon Coleman, Bell and Tyrell Shavers (knee) set to compete for slotting behind Moore and Shakir.
