Leading receiver in loss Allen snared six of his 11 targets for 77 yards and a touchdown in the 27-24 loss to the Patriots on Sunday.
Impact It's at least reassuring for fantasy managers Allen can survive a poor outing offensively from the Chargers as the veteran receiver caught five passes for 50 yards in the demoralizing Week 6 drubbing by the Ravens and followed it up with a 6-77-1 day in an equally disappointing performance Sunday. The Patriots run-heavy approach seemed to discombobulate the Chargers rhythm as quarterback Justin Herbert narrowly completed over 50 percent of his pass attempts, but the confusion seemed to impact Mike Williams (two catches for 19 yards on five attempts) far more than the ever-reliable Allen. It'll be interesting to see if the offense will become more efficient in what figures to be a favorable matchup next week against the Eagles.

After reaching the 100-yard mark in each of the first two games, Allen has topped 50 only once in the past four, as Mike Williams has established himself as the go-to guy in Los Angeles' passing game heading into the team's Week 7 bye.

Impact Allen has at least six catches in all but one game this season, but the veteran stalwart did take a backseat Sunday to Mike Williams' career-high 16 targets. The bevvy of looks gave the aforementioned big-bodied wideout two 40-plus yard receptions, but Allen also got in on the action catching a critical 37-yard deep pass on the team's second-to-final possession of the game. While it's not a statistic that rewards points for fantasy managers, Allen was critical particularly on third down and fourth down, moving the chains on three separate occasions. That type of role almost guarantees a certain floor each and every week, but massive fantasy games might not be as easy with Williams emerging as a certifiable star.

Impact Allen was restricted to underneath passes in the first half but had a good chance to haul in a deep crossing route in the second, only for an accurate delivery to fall off his fingertips. Without a gain longer than nine yards, Allen was held in check by the Raiders defense, but the veteran once again led the Chargers in receptions and targets, salvaging some value. Following consecutive games with under 6.5 yards per catch, Allen will hope to get loose more down the field in Week 5 versus the Browns.
