Signs deal with Carolina
McCray was signed by the Panthers on Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Impact
McCray spent the past two years with Texans and logged two starts in 2022. The 30-year-old has played every position on the offensive line at some point in his career, and while it remains to be seen if he will have a chance to compete for a starting job this season, McCray will still bring solid value as a versatile blocker.

McCray (concussion) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against Philadelphia.

Being evaluated for concussion
McCray didn't return to Sunday's game against the Titans since he was being evaluated for a concussion, Deepi Sidhu of the Texans' official site reports.
Impact
McCray started at right guard Sunday since A.J. Cann (illness) was unavailable, but he was unable to return to the game due to his head injury. If he's diagnosed with a concussion, he'll have to clear the league's protocols if he hopes to play Thursday against the Eagles.

Active, should start at center
McCray (ankle) is active for Sunday's game against the Rams and is expected to start at center, Aaron Wilson of Sportstalk 790 Houston reports.

The 29-year-old has seen most of his action at guard in 2021, but he'll step in at center after Justin Britt (knee) was moved to injured reserve Saturday.

Lands two-year deal with Texans
McCray signed a two-year, $4 million contract with the Texans on Monday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

He's played for Tennessee, Green Bay, Cleveland and Atlanta throughout his seven-year career and been primarily a depth piece. He's currently penciled in as the Texans' starting center, though there's plenty of time for him to return to a backup role if the team makes additional signings.

A start from the 28-year-old would mark his first since suiting up for the Browns during Week 17 of last season.
