Impact Chestnut joined the Titans as an undrafted free agent prior to the 2022 season. He was inactive for each of Tennessee's first 11 games but closed the season with an increased role as he suited up for the final six contests. While Derrick Henry will continue to dominate carries out of the backfield in 2023, Chestnut could be a valuable special teams contributor, as he chipped in at least 40 kick return yards in three of the last five games to close 2022.

Impact Chestnut played 14 offensive snaps, second on the team behind Hassan Haskins. He was bottled up on the ground, though he did manage to set the Titans up for a field goal with his 33-yard reception late in the second quarter. With Derrick Henry (hip) expected to return in Week 18 against Jacksonville, Chestnut will slip back to third on the running back depth chart.

Signs with active roster Tennessee signed Chestnut to its active roster Saturday ahead of Sunday's game at the Chargers, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.

Impact With fellow reserve running back Dontrell Hilliard (neck) landing on the injured reserve list Saturday, Tennessee saw fit to bring Chestnut on board to provide some depth at tailback. The rookie undrafted free agent has taken five carries for 13 yards and caught two passes for eight yards through two games this season.

Bumps back down to practice squad Chestnut reverted to the Titans' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.

Impact Chestnut was elevated from the practice squad for the second time in as many weeks ahead of Sunday's loss to Jacksonville. With Hassan Haskins (hip) inactive and Trenton Cannon (knee) on IR, the undrafted rookie served as Tennessee's third-string running back behind Dontrell Hilliard, who was forced out with a neck injury. Chestnut did not record a rush across his seven offensive snaps, but he did haul in both of his targets for eight yards. He also returned two kickoffs for 53 yards across 12 special-teams snaps. With Hilliard already ruled out Week 15 versus the Chargers, it's likely that Chestnut would be elevated to serve as Tennessee's No. 2 running back if Haskins also remains sidelined.
