RB Julius Chestnut | 2026 Free Agency The Titans have re-signed running back Julius Chestnut to a one-year deal.

MARCH 17 • TENNESSEETITANS.COM

Back with Tennessee Chestnut is slated to re-sign with the Titans, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Impact The 25-year-old from Sacred Heart will now remain in Tennessee after spending his first four NFL seasons with the team. Chestnut has appeared in all of the Titans' 34 contests over the last two years, rushing for 142 yards (4.3 yards per carry) while also accumulating 418 kick-return yards. He's expected to remain a reserve running back and key special-teamer during Tennessee's 2026 campaign.

MARCH 17 • ROTOWIRE

Production dips in 2025 Chestnut rushed 11 times for 40 yards and failed to catch either of his two targets across 17 games in 2025. Additionally, he tallied 81 kick-return yards.

Impact Chestnut saw declines across several statistical categories compared to his 2024 campaign, logging fewer carries (22 to 11) and posting fewer rushing (102 to 40) and receiving (11 to zero) yards while playing 40 fewer offensive snaps. He also returned 10 fewer kicks than he did in 2024 but was more efficient this season, averaging 27 yards per return. Set to enter unrestricted free agency this offseason, Chestnut could draw interest from teams in need of running-back depth and compete for a backup role ahead of the 2026 season.

No snaps on offense in Week 17 Chestnut played all 20 of his snaps on special teams in Sunday's 34-26 loss to the Saints.

Impact Chestnut has been active for all 16 of the Titans' games to date but has remained an afterthought on offense when Tennessee has had both Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears available out of the backfield. For the season, Chestnut has logged just 11 carries (for 40 yards) and has drawn just two catchless targets.

Limited to special teams in Week 11 Chestnut returned two kickoffs for 49 yards while playing all 18 of his snaps on special teams in Sunday's 16-13 loss to the Texans.

Impact Chestnut went unused on offense for the second game in a row, as the Titans had Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears handle all of the snaps at running back. So long as Pollard and Spears are healthy, Chestnut doesn't look like he'll have a chance at earning meaningful touches, but he should continue to suit up on game days due to his standing as a core special-teams player. He ended up seeing his first chances of the season as a kickoff returner after Chimere Dike was forced out of Sunday's game early due to a chest contusion.

Role slips further Chestnut recorded one carry for three yards in Sunday's 22-21 win over Arizona. He did not catch his only target.

Impact Chestnut was on the field for only three offensive snaps while slipping to third on the Tennessee depth chart due to the return of Tyjae Spears. Chestnut has not attempted more than two carries in a game this season.

Seven snaps in Week 4 Chestnut recorded one rush for zero yards and failed to record a catch on one target in Sunday's 26-0 loss to the Texans.

Impact Chestnut remained the backup to Tony Pollard, though he was on the field for only seven offensive snaps. He has earned no more than two carries in a game this season and could shift down the depth chart in Week 5 if Tyjae Spears (ankle) can return.

Maintains backup role Chestnut rushed the ball two times for 26 yards in Sunday's 41-20 loss to the Colts.

Impact Chestnut got consecutive carries on the Titans' opening drive of the third quarter, accounting for his only touches in the game. He still operated as the team's backup to Tony Pollard, even with the return of Kalel Mullings. Chestnut looks likely to remain in that role until Tyjae Spears (ankle) is healthy enough to be activated from injured reserve.
