Possible high ankle sprain The Colts fear that Taylor may have suffered a high ankle sprain during Sunday's 24-17 loss to the Titans, Zak Keefer of The Athletic reports.
Impact Meanwhile, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network relays that the running back "will have tests imminently" to asses his ankle injury. When asked Sunday about his availability for Thursday night's game against Denver, Taylor noted "I'm not sure yet. We'll see how things happen tomorrow morning." If Taylor is out or limited in Week 5, Nyheim Hines and Deon Jackson could see added backfield work versus the Broncos, while Phillip Lindsay and D'Vonte Price are candidates to be elevated from the Colts' practice squad.

Hurts ankle Sunday Taylor was forced out of Sunday's game against the Titans with an ankle injury, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan Indianapolis reports.
Impact Prior to exiting the contest, Taylor logged 20 carries for 42 yards caught one pass for one yard. With the Colts playing again Thursday against the Broncos, Taylor's status will be worth monitoring closely in the coming days. Next up for the team's carries if Taylor is limited or out in Week 5 are Nyheim Hines and Deon Jackson.

Practices fully Thursday Taylor (toe) returned to a full practice Thursday.
Impact After Taylor sat out Wednesday's session, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network suggested that the running back's absence was precautionary. With his return to a full practice Thursday, Taylor is now slated to continue to lead the Colts backfield Sunday against the Titans. Three games into the season, he's logged a total of 61 carries and 13 targets, while Indy's change-of-pace back Nyheim Hines has recorded seven carries and 17 targets in that span.

Back at practice Taylor (toe) was on the field for Thursday's practice, Joel A. Erickson of The Indianapolis Star reports.
Impact After sitting out Wednesday's session, Taylor's return to the field Thursday is encouraging, though the extent of his involvement won't be known until the Colts release their second injury report of the week later in the day. For what it's worth, Nate Atkins of The Indianapolis Star relays that Taylor was donning full pads Thursday. In order to approach Sunday's game against the Titans minus an injury designation, Taylor presumably will need to log a full practice by Friday.

Sits out practice Wednesday Taylor didn't practice Wednesday due to a toe injury, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Impact Pelissero notes that Taylor's absence is likely precautionary after the running back came out of the Colts' Week 3 win over the Chiefs with some soreness in his toe. As for Taylor's status for this Sunday's game against the Titans, Pelissero's source suggests that the Colts' franchise back will be "ready to roll." So long as Taylor upgrades to full participation in practice Friday, he'll likely enter the weekend without a designation.

Colts avoided 0-3 start, but offensive-line concerns loom large

The Colts have the NFL's highest-paid offensive line. Despite a big win over the Chiefs yesterday, it has struggled early on.

Colts avoided 0-3 start, but offensive-line concerns loom large
Workhorse role in Week 3 win Taylor carried 21 times for 71 yards and brought in three of five targets for 20 yards in the Colts' 20-17 win over the Chiefs on Sunday.
Impact Taylor was frequently stymied by a tough Chiefs front, with his longest run of the day going for a modest 13 yards. Taylor's involvement in the passing game was a nice bonus, however, and the star back now has 13 targets through three games. The 2020 second-round pick now has two straight sub-100-yard games, but he looks as explosive as last season and draws a very favorable statistical matchup against the Titans' suspect run defense in a Week 4 home divisional clash.

Limited volume in blowout loss Taylor carried the ball nine times for 54 yards in Sunday's 24-0 loss to the Jaguars. He added one reception for nine yards.
Impact Taylor was scripted out of making an impact in the loss, as the Colts ran only 48 offensive plays and Matt Ryan took to the air 30 times. Even with the limited opportunity, Taylor made a pair of splash gains, tallying two rushes of 21 yards. While Taylor was able to overcome the poor offensive environment around him in Week 1, the Colts have been lackluster with Matt Ryan at the helm early on, which could ultimately cost Taylor opportunity moving forward.
