Mixon's 3 TDs pace Bengals in 33-25 win over Jaguars

Joe Mixon ran for 151 yards and two touchdowns and caught Joe Burrow's pass for another score as the Cincinnati Bengals beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 33-25
OCTOBER 4, 2020 • Associated Press
Breaks out with three TDs Mixon rushed 25 times for 151 yards and two touchdowns while catching all six of his targets for 30 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 33-25 win over the Jaguars.
Impact So much for any concerns about the chest injury that had Mixon listed as questionable coming into this one. Mixon scored his first touchdown of the season on a nine-yard reception in the two-minute drill late in the first half, then capped Cincinnati's first possession of the second half with a 34-yard rushing score before adding a 23-yard rushing touchdown later in the third quarter. His 31 touches marked a season high, as game script finally allowed the Bengals to feed their workhorse running back. Repeating that positive game script won't be easy in Baltimore in Week 5, but this performance proved that Mixon still belongs in the conversation with the league's best running backs.

Good to go Sunday Mixon (chest) is officially active for Sunday's game against the Jaguars, Marisa Contipelli of the Bengals' official site reports.
Impact Mixon was a late add to the injury report Saturday, but he was still expected to play as the chest issue never appeared to be a serious concern. The 24-year-old has 52 carries for 164 yards with seven catches for 58 yards through three games, and Sunday's matchup with Jacksonville is a prime opportunity to get his season on track.

On track to play Sunday Mixon (chest) is expected to play Sunday against the Jaguars, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.
Impact The 24-year-old was added to the injury report earlier Saturday with the chest issue and is officially questionable for Week 4, but the injury apparently isn't a serious concern. However, it's worth keeping an eye on Mixon's status Sunday morning ahead of the 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff.

Pops up on injury report Mixon (chest) was added to the injury report Saturday and is listed as questionable for Sunday's contest against the Jaguars, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.
Impact This comes as a bit of a surprise considering Mixon was not even listed on the injury report all week. There are not many details regarding the severity of the chest injury, so fantasy managers will want to pay extra close attention to his status closer to Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff. If Mixon is deemed healthy enough to play, the star running back figures to be in an optimal fantasy spot against the Jaguars.

Held down by Eagles front Mixon registered 49 rushing yards on 17 carries, adding two catches for 16 yards during Sunday's 23-23 tie against Philadelphia.
Impact The former Oklahoma Sooner has been bestowed a characteristically-heavy workload through the first three weeks of 2020, racking up 19.7 offensive touches per game. That usage hasn't translated into rampant production in the early going. Most of Mixon's work has come via the ground, of course, where he is averaging fewer than 3.2 yards per carry behind an offensive line that is without starting right tackle Xavier Su'a-Filo (ankle). Mixon also remains without a touchdown on the year, further reducing his fantasy value from typical heights. In 2019 Mixon started slowly before heating up late in the season, as he had collected just 87 rushing yards (on 32 attempts) through three outings, only to chalk up three rushing outings of 135-plus yards Weeks 14 through 17. Mixon's upcoming matchup doesn't indicate a likely breakout, however, as the Jaguars have allowed two total touchdowns and a mere 3.6 yards per rush to opposing RBs in 2020.

Finally quieted by Browns Mixon rushed 16 times for 46 yards and brought in all four targets for 40 yards in the Bengals' 35-30 loss to the Browns on Thursday.
Impact Mixon was an absolute terror against Cleveland in his two meetings with Browns last season, exceeding a combined 300 rushing yards in that pair of contests. The defense was clearly focused on not allowing the fourth-year back to have his way yet again, shutting Mixon down for 2.9 yards per rush and a long gain of just nine yards. The Oklahoma product was encouragingly more involved in the passing game than during the team's Week 1 loss to the Chargers, and he's likely to continue building rapport with rookie quarterback Joe Burrow in that regard as the season unfolds. Mixon will now turn his attention to a Week 3 road matchup against the Eagles' elite run defense on Sunday, Sept. 27.
