Chiefs draft LB Bolton, C Humphrey in second round

The Kansas City Chiefs selected Missouri linebacker Nick Bolton with the No. 58 overall pick in the NFL draft

Jets off to KC McKinnon is signing with the Chiefs, Peter Schrager of FOX Sports reports.
Impact After missing back-to-back seasons with knee injuries, McKinnon finally suited up for the 49ers in 2020, recording 572 total yards and six TDs in 16 games. He finished the season with only 3.9 YPC despite picking up 55 yards on a single run, as he averaged 14.5 carries for only 44.3 yards in his four starts. McKinnon turns 29 next week and likely will need to compete for a roster spot this summer.

Plans to leave San Francisco McKinnon said he won't be re-signing with the 49ers, KNBR.com reports.
Impact McKinnon used some pretty strong language, leaving no doubt he plans to find a new team. After missing the entire 2018 and 2019 campaigns due to knee injuries, the veteran running back played all 16 games in 2020, taking 81 carries for 319 yards and five touchdowns and adding 33 catches for 253 yards and another score. McKinnon made starts in Weeks 3,4, 9 and 10, but he otherwise worked as a passing-down specialist, getting just four carries over San Francisco's final six games of the season. He can become an unrestricted free agent in March, and he'll turn 29 in May.

Seahawks' Jamal Adams says no question he'll play vs. Rams

Seattle Seahawks defensive back Jamal Adams says there’s no question he’ll play in his first career playoff game Saturday despite a shoulder injury
JANUARY 6, 2021 • Associated Press
Just four touches on offense McKinnon logged 10 offensive snaps (18 percent) Saturday, registering one carry for four yards and three receptions for 28 yards in a 20-12 win over Arizona.
Impact McKinnon was still used in a reserve/receiving role even with Raheem Mostert (ankle) missing the contest. Instead of deploying his usual two-back attack, head coach Kyle Shanahan used Jeff Wilson Jr. (22 carries for 183 yards) as a bell cow with incredible results. We should see a similar backfield setup in the 49ers' season finale against the Seahawks on Sunday, giving McKinnon little to no fantasy value in Week 17.

Gets involved in passing game McKinnon did not receive a carry but caught both of his targets for 22 yards in Sunday's 41-33 loss to the Cowboys.
Impact Co-starters Raheem Mostert (ankle) and Jeff Wilson (ankle) both suffered injuries late in the game, so Tevin Coleman (three carries for 11 yards) and McKinnon were called into action. The former handled early down work and the latter was used in passing situations, a scenario that is likely to repeat itself if the aforementioned backs are unable to heal on a short week leading up to Saturday's tilt against Arizona. Neither veteran backup is particularly appealing from a fantasy perspective based on what we've seen from Coleman and McKinnon in limited action this year.
DECEMBER 21, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Has zero offensive role Week 14 McKinnon did not receive an offensive snap during Sunday's 23-15 loss to Washington.
Impact McKinnon tallied touchdowns in four consecutive games (over 47 touches) Weeks 1 through 4, but he's now gone scoreless in four straight, while his offensive role has completely dissipated. Raheem Mostert's Week 12 return from a high-ankle sprain has certainly played into McKinnon's reduced involvement, as the former Viking has just five touches since that point. Jeff Wilson, too, has become a backfield fixture of late, with double-digit carries over two of the past three weeks.
DECEMBER 16, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Active, but hardly utilized on MNF McKinnon garnered zero carries or targets over two offensive snaps during Monday's 34-24 loss to the Bills.
Impact Jeff Wilson (seven carries), Raheem Mostert (nine) and Tevin Coleman (two) split the RB workload for San Francisco in a game script that consisted of nearly twice as many pass attempts (39) compared to rushes (21). It appears McKinnon may be the odd man out with Coleman having returned from a month-long injury-induced absence. The 28-year-old does have six touchdowns and 27 receptions to his name this season, but he's rushed for an uninspiring 3.9 yards per carry over 80 attempts.
DECEMBER 8, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Totals 32 yards McKinnon had three carries for 21 yards and caught two of three targets for 11 yards during Sunday's 23-20 win over the Rams.
Impact Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson had 16 and 12 carries, respectively, in their returns from injured reserve, leaving McKinnon to play a minor role. Playing time was split fairly even as none of three backs reached 30 offensive snaps, but Mostert and WIlson were clearing leading the backfield. McKinnon won't have fantasy relevance while they're healthy, especially with Tevin Coleman (knee) also nearing his return.
DECEMBER 2, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Avoids injury report McKinnon (neck) wasn't listed on Wednesday's injury report, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
Impact McKinnon sustained a stinger in the 49ers' last game Week 10 at New Orleans, but with the benefit of a bye week, he managed to practice Wednesday without any restrictions. Meanwhile, Tevin Coleman (knee) was a limited participant, and San Francisco opened 21-day practice windows for Raheem Mostert (ankle) and Jeff Wilson (ankle) on Tuesday. Coach Kyle Shanahan termed each of the trio "day-to-day" Wednesday, so this backfield situation will be one to watch as this weekend's game against the Rams approaches.

Shanahan: Niners 'blew an opportunity' vs surging Saints

An early 10-0 lead was not nearly enough for the mistake-prone, injury-ravaged San Francisco 49ers to hold on against the Saints
NOVEMBER 16, 2020 • Associated Press
Suffers stinger in loss Coach Kyle Shanahan said after Sunday's 27-13 loss to the Saints that McKinnon suffered a stinger late in the game, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports reports.
Impact Prior to the injury, McKinnon rushed 18 times for 33 yards and caught one of three targets for 13 yards. Fellow running back JaMychal Hasty left earlier in the contest with a collarbone injury, but San Francisco will have the benefit of a bye next week to allow the team's injury-riddled backfield to heal up.
NOVEMBER 16, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Set for large workload McKinnon may be in line for a significant workload with Tevin Coleman (knee) ruled out for Sunday's contest at New Orleans, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Impact McKinnon handled a 74-percent share of the snaps on offense Week 9 against the Packers with Coleman sidelined and Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson on IR with ankle sprains. The result was 15 touches for 68 yards from scrimmage and one TD, while JaMycal Hasty played 26 percent of the plays en route to six touches for 13 yards. A similar breakdown of RB reps seems likely Sunday against a Saints defense that has yielded 100.8 total yards per game and five touchdowns to running backs in eight games this season.

Bad beat: Jerick McKinnon’s late 49ers TD proves costly to some NFL: Jerick McKinnon’s late score in the San Francisco 49ers’ game with the Green Bay Packers at Levi’s Stadium was about more than pride

Impact McKinnon led the backfield in rushes with Raheem Mostert (IR-ankle) and Tevin Coleman (knee) both out, posting his highest carry total since Week 4. The seven-year pro had totaled just 13 rush attempts combined over the previous four games, so Thursday's boost in workload was certainly encouraging from a fantasy perspective. McKinnon now also has five rushing touchdowns on the campaign, and he'll have a chance to add to that total in a touch matchup against the Saints in a Week 10 battle on Sunday, Nov. 15.

Sharing work with Hasty in Week 9 McKinnon and JaMycal Hasty are expected to share the load at running back Thursday against the Packers, Matt Maiocco of NBC Bay Area reports.
Impact With Tevin Coleman (knee) exiting early in Sunday's loss to the Seahawks, McKinnon and Hasty finished the contest as the 49ers' only healthy backs. McKinnon held a 35-29 advantage in snaps, but he was largely relegated to a passing-down role, carrying three times for minus-1 yard and a touchdown while adding four receptions for 40 yards on four targets. Meanwhile, Hasty was the clear lead option on the ground, carrying 12 times (for 29 yards and a touchdown). The 49ers have ruled Coleman out for Thursday's game while Raheem Mostert (ankle) and Jeff Wilson (ankle) remain on injured reserve, so another McKinnon and Hasty timeshare should be on tap Week 9.

Leads all backs in snaps McKinnon logged 35 offensive snaps (50 percent) en route to a final line of three carries for a loss of one yard and one touchdown and four receptions for 40 yards in Sunday's 37-2...
Impact Tevin Coleman returned to the field after a lengthy layoff before promptly departing with a knee injury, leaving McKinnon as the most-experienced back yet again. Despite leading all backs in snap share, it was undrafted rookie JaMycal Hasty (12 carries for 29 yards and a touchdown) who took over the early-down work. McKinnon even had a receiving touchdown called back upon review, only to see his first-year counterpart finish the job and get credit for the score. With a quick turnaround heading into Thursday's tilt with Green Bay, Coleman may not be able to suit up after aggravating his knee issue. That leaves the combination of Hasty (early-down back) and McKinnon (third-down back) to share the workload, with the former being the more desirable fantasy target if the recent distribution of carries sticks.
