INJURIES

Returns to practice squad Driskel reverted to the Texans' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Impact Driskel was elevated to the Texans' active roster for a second consecutive week ahead of Sunday's loss to the Broncos, and he played just three of the team's 63 offensive snaps while recording one carry for 10 yards. He'll head back to the practice squad following the game, but it's possible that he rejoins the active roster at some point.

Plays three snaps Driskel had one carry for 10 yards in Sunday's 16-9 loss to the Broncos.
Impact For the second straight week, Driskel was on the active roster ahead of Kyle Allen. He played three snaps and had a 10-yard run on a 3rd-and-1 situation. It's unclear what would happen if starter Davis Mills got injured, however, and whether the Texans would have Driskel start a game over Allen. Driskel has been used mostly on third downs and hasn't attempted a pass yet.

Elevated to active roster again The Texans elevated Driskel from their practice squad to the active roster Saturday for Sunday's game against the Broncos.
Impact Driskel has been elevated to the active roster for each of the first two games of 2022. During the season opener, he got onto the field for two plays and carried the ball once for five yards. The 2016 sixth-round pick can be elevated three times on game days before needing to be signed to the active roster. Kyle Allen was inactive for Week 1 after Driskel was elevated, but it's unclear if that'll be the case again in Week 2.

Leads 10 drives Driskel completed 16 of 26 passes for 165 yards, two touchdowns with three interceptions in Saturday's 17-13 preseason win over New Orleans. He added three carries for 17 yards.
Impact Starter Davis Mills played two series -- both were quick three-and-outs -- and backup Kyle Allen (illness) wasn't available, which afforded Driskel three-plus quarters. It was a mixed bag for the third-stringer, who was the beneficiary of three Houston takeaways but also turned it over three times himself. Asked about Driskel's performance following the game, Houston head coach Lovie Smith reaffirmed the quarterback depth chart as Mills, Allen then Driskel.

Moving to tight end Houston assistant coach Andy Bischoff said Thursday that Driskel is transitioning from quarterback to tight end, Aaron Reiss of The Athletic reports.
Impact Bischoff described Driskel as "a rare athlete," and one who could also contribute on special teams, but the coach added this is a developmental process for the 28-year-old. With that in mind, Driskel is unlikely to be active on game days for Houston in the short term, if at all this season. The organization doesn't consider him a quarterback at this time, per conversations between Bischoff, head coach David Culley and general manager Nick Caserio.
