Heads back to practice squad Wayne reverted to the Texans' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.

Impact Wayne failed to garner any stats while playing 16 of the team's 63 offensive snaps and 15 snaps on special teams. The wide receiver can be elevated two more times before Houston would have to officially sign him to the active roster.

Impact Wayne was elevated from the practice squad to occupy a spot at the back end of the depth chart with Xavier Hutchinson (shoulder) inactive. His 16 snaps were the fewest among the wideouts.

Getting opportunity Week 13 The Texans elevated Wayne from their practice squad Saturday ahead of Sunday's battle with the Jaguars, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Impact Wayne originally signed with Houston as an undrafted free agent in April of 2023, and he hasn't yet gotten into an NFL game. He was a standout college receiver for Pittsburgh, recording 60 catches for 1,063 yards and five touchdowns over 12 games in his final season. If Wayne is active Sunday, he'll likely see few (if any) offensive snaps with most of the Texans' wideout corps healthy.

Signs with Texans Wayne was signed to the Texans' practice squad Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Impact Wayne was in Houston for a visit Tuesday and he must've impressed, earning himself an opportunity with the team's practice unit. The wide receiver was let go by the Texans in July with an injury settlement and he'll now return to the organization. With Nico Collins (hamstring) on injured reserve for at least the next four weeks, it's possible that Wayne could see an elevation to the active roster in the near future.

Hosted by Houston The Texans hosted Wayne (knee) for a visit Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Impact Wayne signed with the Texans in April of 2023 as an undrafted free agent, and he spent most of his rookie season on the practice squad. He was waived with an injury settlement in late July due to a knee issue, but the 24-year-old wideout appears to be healthy and could return to Houston's practice squad.

Cut with injury settlement Wayne (knee) reached an injury settlement with the Texans on Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Impact The wide receiver now has a chance to play in 2024 if he can get healthy and catch on with another team. Wayne was waived with an injury designation by Houston on Monday. The Pittsburgh product went undrafted in 2023, spent most of the season on Houston's practice squad and did not record a stat.

Dropped by Houston The Texans waived Wayne (undisclosed) with an injury designation Monday, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Impact In a corresponding move, the Texans inked veteran running back Cam Akers. The nature and severity of Wayne's injury is unclear at this point, but he'll likely need to be back on the field soon in order to try and make a 53-man roster.
