Headed to Minnesota The Vikings signed Davis off the Packers' practice squad Tuesday.

Impact After being cut by the Commanders on Oct. 22, Davis managed to catch on with the Packers' practice squad Oct. 29, though he hasn't been elevated to Green Bay's active roster. Adding Davis to the 53-man roster gives the Vikings much-needed depth at inside linebacker after Ivan Pace (hamstring) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday. While Pace is sidelined, Davis and Brian Asamoah will serve as Minnesota's rotational inside linebackers behind starters Blake Cashman and Kamu Grugier-Hill.

Davis gives the Packers additional depth at linebacker, and the 2021 first-round pick could be elevated for Sunday's game against the Lions if starting outside linebacker Quay Walker is unable to clear concussion protocols.

Impact Davis, the Commanders' first-round pick of the 2021 NFL Draft, has seen his playing time this season diminish as he regressed to a rotational role behind starting defensive ends Dorance Armstrong (ribs) and Clelin Ferrell. Davis' tenure with Washington will end with 282 combined tackles, including 7.0 sacks, one interception, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries across 50 regular-season games (including 36 starts). The 25-year-old will explore his options and look for a fresh start elsewhere.

Not playing Sunday Davis (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Giants, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.

Impact Davis has started in 28 games for the Commanders over the last two seasons, but he did not start in Week 1 against the Buccaneers and he finished the contest with three tackles (two solo) while playing just 16 snaps (13 on defense, three on special teams). With Washington going to a 3-4 scheme under head coach Dan Quinn, Davis doesn't appear to have an established role in the defense to start the regular season. The 2021 first-round pick's next chance at suiting up will be Week 3 against the Bengals on Sept. 23.
