It seems unlikely that the veteran running back will play in either of the Cardinals remaining preseason games, but he could be ready to suit up for the team's regular-season opener against the Chargers on Sunday, Sept. 13. Jeremiyah Love picked up an ankle injury during Thursday's 27-14 preseason win over the Raiders and is expected to be sidelined for this upcoming week, so Tyler Allgeier and Trey Benson figure to serve as the Cardinals' top running backs in practice ahead of Arizona's next preseason game against Dallas on Saturday, Aug. 22.

Now that 11-on-11 drills are starting up, Conner has been forced to watch from the sideline while Tyler Allgeier and Jeremiyah Love take first-team reps. There will be concern for Conner's Week 1 availability if he doesn't begin full-team work within the next week or two.

Impact Conner's 2025 campaign was abbreviated due to a foot injury that required surgery and a stint on injured reserve after Week 3. He then worked out a restructured contract with the Cardinals in early March that left him with $2.1 million guaranteed in 2026.
