Won't return Week 6 Coker (quadriceps) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Cowboys, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports.

Impact Coker was designated to return from injured reserve Wednesday and was a full participant in practice all week, but he'll have to wait until Week 7 against the Jets on Sunday, Oct. 19 to make his 2025 regular-season debut. Coker's absence means Xavier Legette and Hunter Renfrow will continue to work with rookie first-rounder Tetairoa McMillan in three-wideout sets.

Carolina could certainly use his help, currently getting minimal production from any of the wide receivers behind No. 1 target Tetairoa McMillan. Coker split time between the slot and perimeter as a UDFA-turned-starter in 2024, presumably giving him a good feel for Dave Canales' offensive system as he prepares for a late start to his second NFL season. Coker soon figures to take playing time away from Xavier Legette and/or Hunter Renfrow.

Impact The transaction opens a 21-day window wherein Coker can be evaluated at practice without counting against the 53-man roster. Impact Panthers head coach Dave Canales said Coker has a "serious quad strain," per Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer. While the second-year wideout's placement on IR allows him to retake the field after a minimum of only four games, it sounds like his return could be postponed until as late as Week 7 against the Jets on Oct. 19. With Carolina also having traded Adam Thielen to Minnesota, the team inked veteran wideout Hunter Renfrow to the active roster Saturday to help provide depth behind Tetairoa McMillan (hamstring) and Xavier Legette.
