Impact Meyers led New England's pass catchers in receptions (83), targets (126) and receiving yards (866) to go along with two touchdowns last season, so it's not a major surprise to see the team using the second-round tender. The Patriots will be able to match any offer sheet issued by another team, or they can decline to match and receive a second-round pick.

Leads team with 83 catches Meyers finished the 2021 regular season with a team-high 83 catches on 126 targets for 866 yards and a pair of touchdowns in 17 games.
Impact Per Paul Perillo of the Patriots' official site, Meyers is a pending restricted free agent this offseason, but we'd expect the team to find a way to retain the 25-year-old in 2022. With that in mind, Perillo suggests that a second-round tender probably would facilitate such an outcome. If that happens, Meyers will remain a key cog in a WR corps that also will feature Kendrick Bourne (signed through 2023) and Nelson Agholor (signed through 2022). Beyond that trio, it remains to be seen how the rest of the depth chart will look next season, but it wouldn't surprise to see New England look to add a playmaking wideout in the coming months, be it via trade, free agency or the draft.

Impact Meyers led the team with nine targets, though he was out-produced by Kendrick Bourne. The majority of Meyers' work came with the game well out of reach, though he did tally a 19-yard reception to set up a field goal for New England just before halftime. He was otherwise limited to short gains. Impact Meyers is one of 13 players listed as questionable for the contest by the Patriots, but we'd be surprised if he wasn't available for the team's playoff opener. To be sure, his status should be verified ahead of Saturday night's 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff, but the wideout was on the field for 52 of a possible 62 snaps on offense in Week 18 en route to catching four of his eight targets for 70 yards in a loss to the Dolphins. With no reported setbacks, we suspect that his listed practice limitations this week were maintenance-related.

Impact Meyers is operating under the same practice regimen for a third straight week, the result of a hamstring issue. In the final two games of the regular season, he still logged at least 77 percent of the offensive snaps on both occasions, reeling in 12 of 16 targets for 143 yards and one touchdown. Even if his reps continue to be managed Wednesday and Thursday and he enters the weekend as questionable, Meyers doesn't appear to be in danger of sitting out Saturday's wild-card contest in Buffalo.
