INJURIES

Could miss some time Rams coach Sean McVay said Thursday that Harris strained his groin and could miss a couple of weeks, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
Impact Harris suffered yet another health setback after missing the second half of his 2021 rookie campaign due to a torn ACL and MCL. The 25-year-old enjoyed a full return to health this offseason, but he could be set to miss the Rams' first two preseason games with this new injury. Los Angeles recently converted Harris from tight end back to his collegiate position of wide receiver, but he'll now face an uphill battle for playing time this preseason after the team also signed wideout Austin Trammell on Thursday.

Reverting back to wide receiver Harris (knee) is practicing with the wide receivers and the Rams currently consider him a wide receiver instead of a tight end, per Jourdan Rodrigue of The Atlantic.
Impact Harris was a wide receiver in college at UCF, where he put up a 30-539-8 line in his senior season, but was used as a tight end in limited action during a dismal rookie campaign with the Rams, where he went without a single target before missing the latter half of the season with a torn ACL and MCL. Converting back to his original position may get Harris back in his comfort zone, but his return further crowds an already stacked wideout room that may leave him struggling for snaps once again.

Nearing full recovery Harris (knee) was able to get in work on the sidelines during OTAs, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
Impact Harris suffered a torn ACL and MCL in Week 9 against the Titans, which brought his rookie season to an early end. Rodrigue notes that Harris looked "explosive," even at partial speed, so a return to normal participation for training camp may not be farfetched. Although he was unable to make an impact during his rookie season, Harris will compete with Brycen Hopkins and Kendall Blanton for snaps behind starter Tyler Higbee next season.

Placed on IR Harris (knee) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday.
Impact Coach Sean McVay said Monday that Harris will require season-ending surgery to repair a torn ACL and MCL. The 2021 fourth-round pick appeared in every game for the Rams this season, but he only played 15 offensive snaps and didn't record any stats, so his absence shouldn't affect Los Angeles' offensive rotations.

Done for season Harris (knee) will need surgery and is out for the season, according to head coach Sean McVay, Stu Jackson of the Rams' official site reports.
Impact Harris was hurt in the Rams' loss to the Titans on Sunday while covering on a punt return in the first half. The 2021 fourth-round selection had mainly contributed on special teams outside of 15 snaps on offense between Weeks 6 and 8. Harris now will focus on being ready for the 2022 season.

Defense carries Titans past Rams 28-16 for 5th straight win

Kevin Byard returned an interception 24 yards for a touchdown, and Tennessee’s defense carried the Titans to a 28-16 victory over the Los Angeles Rams in a showdown between confere...

Returns against Broncos Harris did not convert any of his three targets into a reception in Saturday's preseason game against the Broncos.
Impact Harris had been sidelined with an upper-body injury, though he was able to take the field for the team's final preseason contest. The former wide receiver is likely to begin the season primarily as a special teams contributor. As a result, he's unlikely to see reliable volume in Week 1 against Chicago and will have a hard time making an impact on the offensive side of the ball so long as the Rams' tight end corps remains healthy.

Returns to practice Harris (core muscle) participated in full pads at Tuesday's practice, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
Impact Harris underwent core muscle surgery this summer, which delayed his introduction to on-field work at training camp. Before the injury, he handled significant reps during the offseason program. A fourth-round rookie who is transitioning from wide receiver to tight end, the 6-foot-5, 219-pounder has a chance to move up the depth chart in a TE group that lost Gerald Everett in the offseason. Now that he's inched closer to full health, Harris will compete with Johnny Mundt and Brycen Hopkins for depth chart slotting behind top option Tyler Higbee.

Recovering from core injury Harris suffered a core muscle injury a few weeks ago and underwent a minor procedure to address the injury, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
Impact The rookie fourth-round pick is expected to make a full recovery within the next few weeks and isn't starting camp on the PUP list. Harris' availability for the first preseason game Aug. 14 versus the Chargers is up in the air, but he has a better chance of playing in the subsequent exhibitions.

Sees significant reps at OTAs Harris took significant reps throughout voluntary and minicamp practices, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports.
Impact With Tyler Higbee a non-participant at OTAs, Harris had the opportunity to showcase his talents at practice. The fourth-round pick from Central Florida played wide receiver in college but is expected to compete at tight end in the NFL due to his size. He will compete with Brycen Hopkins and Johnny Mundt going forward for the opportunity to back up Higbee.

Inside Rams' scouting of Jacob Harris: From 'unicorn' measurables to an 'analytics pick' — how he'll be molded Jacob Harris isn't the size of your typical NFL tight end. But the Los Angeles Rams believe "this is the guy you want to bet on."

Working at tight end Harris was working on at tight end during OTAs last week, Eric D. Williams of SI.com reports.
Impact The rookie fourth round pick checks in at 6-foot-5, 219 pounds, so it's not a major surprise he'll open his NFL career at tight end rather than wideout, the position he played his time in college at UCF. Harris could carve out a role as a secondary pass-catching threat behind No. 1 tight end Tyler Higbee.

Another wideout for Stafford The Rams selected Harris in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, 141st overall.
Impact Harris is another unique addition to Los Angeles' receiving corps, bringing the team 6-foot-5, 219-pound size after the selection Tutu Atwell (5-foot-9, 155-pounds) in the third. Even after logging two years as a starter out of the slot at UCF, Harris was mocked as a tight end by some analysts throughout the draft process. His size will obviously restrict Harris' usage at the NFL level, but he could eventually develop into a dangerous red-zone threat in designed packages, especially considering coach Sean McVay's creative playcalling. For now, he's purely a project with some immediate special-teams upside.
