INJURIES

Little action Week 4 Henry brought in two of three targets for 39 yards in the Chargers' 38-31 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday.
Impact Henry struggled compared to last week against the Panthers, seeing just three targets compared to seven against Carolina, though he did accumulate the second most out of the team's receivers. Keenan Allen continued to siphon the majority of the team's targets, receiving 12 compared to Henry's three. Things could change next week against the Saints, who allowed the second most fantasy points to tight ends thus far. It's also possible Henry could see a bit more work in the red zone if Mike Williams (hamstring) is unable to play again.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver Mike Evans is off to another nice start

Kept in check Henry gathered five of his seven targets for 50 yards in the 21-16 loss Sunday to the Panthers.
Impact It might not have been a massive performance for Henry, but the tight end was an athletic mismatch in the middle of the field which Justin Herbert continued to rely on. That's now three games in which Henry has caught at least five passes, and he's been targeted 23 times during that stretch good for second-best on the team. Curiously he's been less than involved in the red zone although both of the team's scores came from outside 10 yards which might explain the anomaly. The Buccaneers, who play the Chargers in Week 4, just held Noah Fant to a paltry 46 yards across 10 targets, so fantasy managers might want to temper expectations when it comes to Henry's performance next week.

Practices fully Henry (ankle) practiced fully Thursday.
Impact Henry, who was on the field for 86 percent of the Chargers' offensive snaps in Week 2's overtime loss to Kansas City, should remain busy Sunday against the Panthers. The tight end will look to continue to build his chemistry with quarterback Justin Herbert after catching six passes (on eight targets) for 83 yards in the rookie signal-caller's surprise start last weekend.

Herbert gets full week of practice as Chargers host Panthers

Justin Herbert has had an entire week instead of just a couple minutes to prepare for his second NFL start

Logs limited practice session Henry was a limited participant at practice Wednesday due to an ankle injury.
Impact Henry played 86 percent of the Chargers' offensive snaps in Sunday's 23-20 overtime loss to Kansas City, finishing with six receptions for 83 yards. The tight end's status will be monitored as the week rolls along, but so far there's nothing to suggest that he won't be available this weekend, when he'll be catching passes for rookie quarterback Justin Herbert in the Chargers' matchup with the Panthers.

AP Source: Chargers' team doctor punctured Taylor's lung

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Tyrod Taylor missed last Sunday’s game because a team doctor accidentally punctured his lung, according to a person familiar with the case
SEPTEMBER 23, 2020
Strong effort in OT loss Henry caught six of eight targets for 83 yards in Sunday's 23-20 overtime loss to Kansas City.
Impact First-round pick Justin Herbert got a surprise start under center in place of Tyrod Taylor (chest) and he relied heavily on his tight end in his NFL debut, with only Keenan Allen seeing more targets from the rookie than Henry did. The fifth-year player could see steady volume again in Week 3, but he could struggle to make an impact against a Panthers defense that held Darren Waller in check in its opener and which has been far more vulnerable on the ground than through the air so far.

Chargers muster just enough offense to slip by Bengals

The Los Angeles Chargers got just enough offense to slip past the Cincinnati Bengals 16-13
SEPTEMBER 14, 2020
Leads team in receiving yards Henry caught five of his eight targets for 73 yards in the 16-13 win Sunday over the Bengals.
Impact Henry played better than the box score might indicate as his 33-yard reception towards the end of the first half proved to be critical in waking up a lethargic Chargers offense. It was almost an excellent fantasy day for the 25-year-old, but a late fourth-quarter target in the end zone saw Henry just miss getting two feet down to clutch what would have been the game-winning touchdown. It's clear the Chargers still need to work out some kinks in their offensive scheme, but Henry's play Sunday was certainly a promising mark in a pivotal year for the big tight end.

JULY 20, 2020
Stuck on franchise tag Henry and the Chargers didn't reach an agreement on a contract extension before Wednesday's deadline, Jeff Miller of the LA Times reports.
Impact The 25-year-old tight end will play out 2020 with a base salary of $10.6 million under the franchise tag, potentially facing a second tag for $12.7 million next offseason. Despite missing four games with a knee injury early in the season, Henry finished 2019 with career highs for targets (76), receptions (55) and yards (652). He did slow down in December, when he was limited to a 16-165-2 receiving line in five games. The combination of Tyrod Taylor and Justin Herbert at quarterback isn't ideal, but Henry at least figures to handle a three-down role for the 2020 Chargers, competing for targets with Keenan Allen, Austin Ekeler and Mike Williams.

Likely stuck on franchise tag Henry is not expected to sign an extension before the July 15 deadline, Gilbert Manzano of The Orange Country Register reports.
Impact Henry, who already signed his $10.6 million franchise tag tender, didn't sound optimistic about a possible extension before the July 15 deadline saying, "I'm just going to go out there. I get a chance to play this year and do my thing this year. I'm pretty locked in on what I got ahead of me in the 2020 season. That's what I'm locked in for, you know, I don't like to look too far ahead." The starting tight end has run into a slew of different injuries throughout his career, but he has still piled together 1,709 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns despite missing 23 games over the past four seasons.
