Won't play, despite questionable tag
Olsen (foot) is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the 49ers, but head coach Pete Carroll relayed Friday that the tight end won't play in the regular-seaso...
Impact
After spending four games on injured reserve due to a foot issue, Olsen returned to action for the Week 16 win over the Rams, playing 12 offensive snaps and finishing with one reception for 15 yards on two targets. Though Olsen returned to practice Friday after sitting out sessions Wednesday and Thursday, Carroll said the veteran experienced a "little flare up" with his foot. As such, the Seahawks will err on the side of caution and hold Olsen out Week 17, with the hope of ensuring his availability for the postseason. Look for Will Dissly and Jacob Hollister to split reps at tight end against San Francisco.

Considered questionable for Week 17
Olsen (foot) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the 49ers, Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio 950 KJR Seattle reports.
Impact
The veteran tight end received the designation after he wasn't able to practice Wednesday and Thursday. With a first-round bye still mathematically in reach for the Seahawks heading into Week 17, the urgency to get Olsen on the field may be increased.

Misses second straight practice
Olsen (foot) didn't participate in Thursday's practice, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
Impact
Olsen hasn't appeared on the practice field since playing in this past Sunday's win over the Rams. There's no indication that the 35-year-old aggravated the fascia tear in his left foot, which kept him out for four games, but it's concerning nonetheless. Of course, the veteran tight end doesn't need to practice all week to play Sunday, and a return to practice Friday should put him on the right track for the season finale against San Francisco.

Sidelined for Wednesday's practice
Olsen (foot) didn't participate in Wednesday's practice, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
Impact
Olsen returned from a fascia tear in his left foot for last week's win over the Rams. He clearly was eased into action by playing just 12 of 63 snaps on offense, so missing Wednesday's practice could be a part of his recovery plan. His status shouldn't concern fantasy managers, as there's a decent chance that both Jacob Hollister and Will Dissly handle more reps than Olsen on Sunday against the 49ers.

One reception in return
Olsen was targeted twice and caught a 15-yard pass in Sunday's 20-9 win over the Rams.
Impact
In his first game back from a four-game stint on IR, Olsen played just 12 of 63 snaps on offense. This sort of pitch count was to be expected after rehabbing -- possibly not in full -- a fascia tear in his left foot. It wouldn't be surprising if Olsen continues to work as the No. 3 tight end behind Jacob Hollister and Will Dissly in the season finale against San Francisco.

Coming off IR
The Seahawks activated Olsen (foot) from injured reserve Saturday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
Impact
After spending more than a month on IR due to a fascia tear in his left foot, Olsen is slated to suit up for the first time since Week 11. His snap count remains to be seen, as he'll vie with Jacob Hollister and Will Dissly for snaps among Seahawks tight ends Sunday against the Rams. Prior to his injury, Olsen averaged a pedestrian 9.7 YPC and 6.4 YPT while scoring one TD on his 35 targets.

On track to play Week 16
Coach Pete Carroll said Monday that Olsen (foot) "is returning this week," Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio 950 KJR Seattle reports.
Impact
Carroll reeled in his own optimism by saying that Olsen needs to make it through the practice week first. Still, the 35-year-old tight end is determined to get back on the field to finish out what may be his last NFL season. He wasn't particularly productive before the injury, posting a 23-224-1 line over 10 games. And since he is recovering from a ruptured plantar fascia, it's possible that he doesn't get back to 100 percent. Olsen can be safely left of fantasy radars in standard formats as a result.

Not expected to face Washington
Olsen (foot) is considered a "long shot" for Sunday's game against Washington, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Impact
Olsen only just returned to practice Wednesday, so it would seem probable that the Seahawks allow him a bit more time to get healthy. The veteran tight end ruptured the plantar fascia in his left foot Week 11 and hasn't played since. Will Dissly and Jacob Hollister will continue to split most of the reps at tight end until Olsen returns.

Returns to practice
The Seahawks designated Olsen (foot) for return from IR on Wednesday, Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio 950 KJR Seattle reports.
Impact
Olsen will now have a 21-day window to be evaluated at practice without counting against the active roster. The veteran tight end appears to be making an impressively quick recovery from the ruptured plantar fascia in his left foot, considering that he's only missed three games and could be eligible to return as early as Sunday's contest against the Football Team. Of course, the Seahawks could wait until as late as Week 17 to activate Olsen.
