Returns to practice Wednesday The Saints designated McCoy (calf) to return from injured reserve Wednesday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
Impact McCoy has spent the last four games on IR after being forced out with a calf injury Week 9 versus Baltimore, and he was designated to return to practice at the earliest possible opportunity. The 25-year-old will now have a 21-day window to be restored to the active roster, otherwise he'll revert to IR for the remainder of the 2022 campaign. McCoy's first chance to play again will come Sunday against Atlanta.

Impact McCoy suffered the injury in the Saints' Week 9 loss to Baltimore and has failed to practice in any capacity since. He'll now be forced to miss the team's next four games, meaning the earliest he can return is Week 15 against the Falcons.

Impact McCoy was unable to return after exiting in the first half against Baltimore, and he was seen struggling to put any weight on his injured calf postgame, per Kirchhofer. The 25-year-old has started all 52 of his regular-season games since being selected in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, and he inked a five-year contract extension with New Orleans this offseason. It will be worth monitoring McCoy's status heading into Sunday's contest versus Pittsburgh.
