Catches two passes against Bengals Brown secured both of his targets for 16 yards in Monday's 38-33 win over the Bengals.

Impact Brown continued his underwhelming start to the 2024 season Monday, catching just two passes for the second-straight week. His spot on the depth chart as the No. 4 wideout, as well as his limited usage on offense, should continue to keep him off the fantasy radar barring injuries. Brown and the Commanders will visit the Cardinals in Week 4.

Targeted four times in Week 2 Brown secured two of his four targets for 17 yards in Sunday's 21-18 win over the Giants.

Impact Brown saw his offensive snap percentage increase in Week 2, playing 69 percent of snaps against the Giants after playing 55 percent of snaps in Week 1. The fourth-year wideout's four targets were also an improvement after not seeing a single target in the Commanders' debut. Brown has the potential to develop into a key player in Washington's passing attack, as fellow receivers Luke McCaffrey, Olamide Zaccheaus and Noah Brown don't present much of a road block to increased involvement. The 24-year-old will look to take the next step to establish his role in the offense when the Commanders visit the Bengals in Week 3.

Impact Brown played 55 percent of snaps while rotating with Olamide Zaccheaus, who took 45 percent of snaps and caught one of three targets for 15 yards (on 13 routes). There's a good chance the two WRs continue to share playing time Week 2 against the Giants, but one or the other could potentially emerge as a full-time starter down the road.

Impact Neither did Olamide Zaccheaus, who seems to be Brown's primary competition for the No. 2 receiver spot after Jahan Dotson was traded to the Eagles last week. Dotson mostly worked the slot during Washington's first two preseason games while Zaccheaus and Brown split perimeter snaps with the first-team offense. One possibility is moving Zaccheaus to the slot and keeping Brown on the perimeter, although that wouldn't necessarily give Brown all the playing time in two-wide sets. Jamison Crowder and rookie third-round pick Luke McCaffrey could also enter the mix despite not getting playing time with the starting offense this preseason. Regardless of how the snaps shake out, it'll be surprising if any of the team's WRs besides Terry McLaurin see more than a handful of targets per game.

Catches three passes from Daniels Brown started Saturday's preseason game against Miami and caught each of his three targets for 19 yards.

Impact All three receptions came from QB Jayden Daniels on the opening drive, but Brown rotated with Olamide Zaccheaus while Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson played nearly all the first-team snaps. Coach Dan Quinn suggested all the roles are up for grabs behind McLaurin, leaving Dotson, Brown, Zaccheaus and Luke McCaffrey to compete for playing time. Brown has done well this preseason with five catches for 74 yards on six targets, but he might end up in a rotation even if he's a Week 1 starter for the first time since his 2021 rookie season.

Impact Brown had a 42-yard gain on the third play of the game, catching a perfectly thrown deep pass from rookie QB Jayden Daniels. Brown continued playing well into the second quarter and caught a 13-yard pass from third-string QB Jeff Driskel on an afternoon when Terry McLaurin was the only Washington wideout to be pulled from the game at the same time as Daniels. Probable No. 2 receiver Jahan Dotson also played throughout the first half, and rookie third-round pick Luke McCaffrey got each of his three targets after halftime. Brown thus seems to be in the mix for a top-three role, primarily competing with Dotson, McCaffrey and Olamide Zaccheaus for playing time behind McLaurin.

Impact The 2021 third-round pick is in the final year of his rookie contract and hoping to impress a new coaching staff after catching only 29 passes over his first three seasons. It sounds like the new coaches have taken notice, perhaps giving Brown a chance to compete with Luke McCaffrey, Olamide Zaccheaus and others for the third and fourth spots at wide receiver. Incumbent starters Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson still top the depth chart and figure to take the lion's share of WR targets.

Impact Brown hasn't been able to build on the 35-yard game-tying reception touchdown reception he provided in an eventual 29-26 loss to Seattle in Week 10. In the Commanders' ensuing three contests, Brown has hovered between snap shares of 20 and 25 percent while compiling a 2-7-0 receiving line on five targets. With Washington's receiving corps at full strength at the moment, Brown is unlikely to see his role increase coming out of the team's Week 14 bye.
