NFL Catchup: Eagles' Injuries Mount; Jayden Daniels Trending Toward Return

Heads to IR The Ravens placed Smythe (Achilles) on their injured reserve list Wednesday, Ryan Mink of the Ravens' official site reports.

Impact Smythe tore his Achilles during Sunday's game versus the Titans, and he will now have to spend the remainder of the season on IR. His absence should open up more reps at tight end for rookie fourth-rounder Matthew Hibner.

Out for season with torn Achilles Smythe was diagnosed with a torn Achilles tendon following an MRI on Monday and will require season-ending surgery, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Impact The Ravens had been concerned that Smythe ruptured his Achilles during Sunday's win over the Titans, and the MRI ended up confirming the team's fears. The 31-year-old tight end suited up for each of the Ravens' first four games, serving mainly as a blocker while contributing a four-yard reception on two targets. He'll be ticketed for free agency in the spring after signing a one-year, $3 million deal with Baltimore in the offseason.

Won't return against Titans Smythe (Achilles) won't return to Sunday's game against the Titans.

Impact Smythe joins an extensive list of Baltimore injuries in Week 4. Without Smythe on the field for the remainder of Sunday's meeting with Tennessee, Matthew Hibner and Josh Cuevas could see some snaps behind Mark Andrews.

Practices in full Thursday Smythe was a full participant in Thursday's practice.

Impact Smythe was limited during practice Wednesday, though he managed to participate fully Thursday. The 31-year-old veteran logged 108 offensive snaps for the Ravens throughout the first three weeks of the 2026 campaign, with fellow tight end Mark Andrews (hand) recording 123. However, Smythe hasn't done much of relevance in his three appearances, catching one pass (two targets) for four yards.

Limited participant Wednesday Smythe (heel) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.

Impact Smythe likely suffered the heel injury during the Ravens' 34-31 win over the Cowboys in Rio. The tight end being a limited participant after recently sustaining the injury is a positive sign for his ability to suit up for Sunday's game against the Titans. Smythe will likely need to upgrade to a ful participant by Friday's practice to dodge any injury designation ahead of Sunday's game.

Blocking in Baltimore The Ravens and Smythe have agreed to terms, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.

Impact Smythe had a substantial role for the 2025 Bears as a blocking tight end for both the offense and special-teams unit. The tight end will now bring that skill set to Baltimore, likely as a replacement for Charlie Kolar, whom the Ravens lost to the Chargers in free agency. The 30-year-old caught just four passes in 17 regular-season games during the 2025 season, a number that may increase now that he is paired up with Lamar Jackson in a new Ravens offense.

MARCH 11 • ROTOWIRE

Not targeted in finale Smythe was not targeted in the Bears' 19-16 loss to the Lions on Sunday.

Impact Smythe finished the season playing all 17 games and caught four passes for 25 yards on six targets. He has totaled 13 receptions over the last two seasons while serving primarily as a blocking tight end, limiting his fantasy relevance to deep leagues. He is set to hit free agency.
