Breaks out in loss Peoples-Jones caught five of six targets for a season-high 70 yards in Sunday's 47-42 loss to the Chargers.
Impact It took until Week 5, but Peoples-Jones finally had a fantasy-worthy game, leading Cleveland wideouts in targets for the first time this season. Sunday's targets/catches/yards were more than his output over the first four games combined. Shootouts like this are rare for the Browns, so this is unlikely a harbinger for the second-year wideout, but it was good to see evidence of Peoples-Jones' upside after a disappointing start to the season.

Impact This was the first time in four games that Peoples-Jones went untargeted, but he's played a minor role even when getting looks from quarterback Baker Mayfield. The second-year wideout has just four targets through four weeks. It appears Rashard Higgins is the primary beneficiary of more targets with Jarvis Landry (knee) sidelined. Higgins has nine targets compared to Peoples-Jones' two over the last two games without Landry.

Two catches in win Peoples-Jones caught two of two targets for 39 yards in Sunday's 26-6 win over the Bears.
Impact Peoples-Jones and Rashard Higgins saw more playing time with Jarvis Landry (knee) unavailable. Peoples-Jones had his best game to date, but the second-year wideout remains a minor piece in a passing attack that is already taking a back seat to the Browns' running game. Odell Beckham dominated wideout targets with Landry out, much as Landry did the first two weeks when Beckham was sidelined. After three games, Cleveland's run the ball 56 percent of the time, which doesn't allow for many targets to guys deeper on the depth chart. Beckham and Kareem Hunt combined for 16 of 29 targets, while six others shared the rest. The good news is that Peoples-Jones has caught all four of his targets through three weeks, and that he didn't fumble as he did in Week 2.

Impact Two plays into the game, the Browns lost wide receiver Jarvis Landry to an MCL injury, opening the door to a bigger role for Peoples-Jones. However, the second-year wideout fumbled away his lone catch on Houston's 27-yard line and didn't get another target the rest of the way. The Browns leaned on their running backs and tight ends after that. Thus far, Peoples-Jones has two targets and two catches through two games. More was anticipated from him, particularly with Odell Beckham (knee) inactive Weeks 1 and 2, but an extended absence for Landry would provide him with more opportunities.

Impact As a rookie in 2020, Peoples-Jones was behind KhaDarel Hodge in the pecking order to start the season, but the second-year wideout has flipped the script in 2021. He's been one of the stars of camp and should see an expanded role this season, though expectations should be tempered. The Browns run a lot of "12" personnel (two tight ends), meaning two wideouts on the field. More often than not, those two wideouts will be Odell Beckham and Jarvis Landry. Peoples-Jones is looking to build off a strong finish from 2020, when he averaged 40 snaps, two catches, three targets and 44 yards per game over the final six contests, including two playoff games.
