Returning to practice Head coach Dan Campbell said Wednesday that Chark (ankle) has been designated for return from injured reserve, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.
Impact The transaction thus opens a 21-day window for the Lions to evaluate Chark in practice without him counting toward the 53-man active roster. The speedy wideout hasn't played since Week 3, but once activated, he'll likely step back in as a starter alongside No. 1 receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown. Per Eric Woodyard of ESPN.com, the Lions also hope to open the practice window on Jameson Williams (knee) after Thanksgiving Day.

Lions WR St. Brown ruled out against Cowboys with concussion

Detroit Lions receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown has been ruled out in the first half against the Dallas Cowboys because of a concussion
OCTOBER 23, 2022 • Associated Press
Lands on IR Chark (ankle) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Impact Even with the bye week Chark still wasn't able to get on the practice field this week, essentially setting the stage for this designation. The speedy wide receiver won't be eligible to return until mid-November, leaving the likes of Josh Reynolds (ankle), Tom Kennedy and Kalif Raymond to take on an expanded role.

Ruled out again despite bye Chark (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game in Dallas.
Impact Chark missed the last two games before a Week 6 bye and still hasn't returned to practice. Fellow wideout Josh Reynolds (ankle) is listed as questionable, further increasing the odds that depth receivers Tom Kennedy and Kalif Raymond see targets Sunday. Chark's next chance to play is Sunday, Oct. 30 against the Dolphins.

Detroit Lions WR DJ Chark in walking boot, likely out vs. Cowboys: 'It's frustrating' Detroit Lions wide receiver DJ Chark, who fractured his left ankle last September, said he does not need surgery.
OCTOBER 20, 2022 • FREEP.COM
Doesn't practice Thursday Chark (ankle) was a non-participant at Thursday's practice.
Impact Even with the benefit of a Week 6 bye, Chark isn't showing any sign that a return to action is imminent. In fact, he was seen wearing a walking boot Thursday, which he relayed to Kyle Meinke of MLive.com is a precautionary measure to expedite his recovery effort. Both Chark and Josh Reynolds (knee) have been unable to practice this week, and if they're sidelined Sunday at Dallas, the Lions' receiving corps would be whittled down to Amon-Ra St. Brown, Kalif Raymond and Tom Kennedy among options on the active roster.

Prescott set for return as Cowboys seek bounce back vs Lions

OCTOBER 20, 2022 • Associated Press
Not ready to practice Chark (ankle) isn't in line to practice Wednesday, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Impact Chark has missed the Lions' last two games, and his expected non-participation at practice Wednesday suggests that his status for Sunday's contest against the Cowboys remains cloudy. If he remains out this weekend, Josh Reynolds and Kalif Raymond would once again be in line for added opportunities in Week 7 alongside top wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown.

Won't play this week Chark (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Patriots.
Impact Chark will miss back-to-back games before a Week 6 bye, potentially setting up a return Week 7 in Dallas. The Lions gave Tom Kennedy and Quintez Cephus (foot) a lot of playing time last week, but Cephus is ruled out this week, potentially creating an opening for Kennedy and Kalif Raymond (especially if Amon-Ra St. Brown also misses another game with his ankle injury; he's listed as questionable). Chark did manage one limited practice this week and could be ready to go after the bye.
OCTOBER 7, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Back to limited practice Chark (ankle) practiced in a limited fashion Thursday.
Impact After missing one practice and participating in a limited fashion twice last week, Chark was expected to play this past Sunday against the Seahawks before the Lions ruled him out a day in advance of the game. This time around, he mixed into drills Thursday after sitting out Wednesday, which also happened for fellow wide receiver Josh Reynolds (ankle) and tight end T.J. Hockenson (hip). Meanwhile, Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle) and D'Andre Swift (shoulder/ankle) have yet to practice this week, so Chark could be on pace for a significant snap count Sunday in New England if he's able to get rid of his designation ahead of a 1 p.m. ET kickoff. For his part, Chark said Wednesday that his ankle feels "times 10" better than it did a week earlier, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Misses practice again Chark (ankle) isn't practicing Wednesday, Justin Rogers of The Detroit News reports.
Impact Chark missed the 48-45 loss to Seattle last Sunday, getting ruled out Saturday after head coach Dan Campbell had said Friday that the wideout would play. The 26-year-old managed limited practices last Wednesday and Friday but now is back to sitting out as the Lions begin preparation for a Week 5 contest in New England. Fellow wide receivers Amon-Ra St. Brown and Josh Reynolds also missed practice Wednesday because of ankle injuries, though Reynolds played through his and had 81 yards and a score in the loss this past Sunday.

DJ Chark Out Sunday Against Seahawks Detroit Lions reveal Week 2 NFL practice squad elevations, waive two players, sign two players to active roster.
OCTOBER 1, 2022 • NEWSOBSERVER.COM
Surprisingly ruled out Chark (ankle) has been downgraded to out and will not play in Sunday's matchup against the Seahawks.
Impact Coach Dan Campbell hinted Friday that Chark would be able to play, but evidently the veteran's ankle injury was too difficult to overcome. The Lions will now be without three of their top offensive options with D'Andre Swift (shoulder), Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle) and Chark all inactive. Expect Josh Reynolds and Kalif Raymond to see the majority of the snaps at wide receiver with tight end T.J. Hockenson and running back Jamaal Williams chipping in as capable mid-range targets.
