Gets opportunity with New Orleans The Saints signed Jones to a one-year contract Friday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Impact The move means Jones will end up playing for all four NFC teams, with his NFL career starting with the Falcons in 2016 as a second-round pick before stints with the Panthers and, most recently, the Buccaneers. He appeared in 17 regular-season games for Tampa Bay last year as a special-teams contributor and depth option on defense, finishing with 29 tackles (16 solo). Jones figures to see most of his playing time on special teams this season, and his addition gives New Orleans depth at inside linebacker behind starters Kaden Elliss and Pete Werner.

Impact The inside linebacker will be making his debut with Tampa Bay. Jones recorded five seasons of more than 100 tackles with the Falcons between 2016 and 2021, but his snap counts and production dipped with the Browns and Panthers in 2022 and 2023, respectively. Impact Jones has largely played a rotational role since being traded from Atlanta to Cleveland in October, totaling 22 tackles and 1.5 sacks over six games. However, the 2017 Pro Bowler recorded over 100 tackles in five of six seasons as the Falcons' starting inside linebacker, so it's possible he could flourish if he does move up into a similar role with Cleveland.
