Explodes for 133 yards vs. Rams Samuel caught 11 of 13 targets for 133 yards during Sunday's 23-20 win over the Rams.

Impact Making his first appearance since Week 7, Samuel more than doubled his previous season high in yardage as he repeatedly gashed the typically stout Rams secondary while leading the team in targets and catches as well. He dominated throughout the game but was particularly effective on the game-winning drive as he contributed three catches and 35 yards to help set up a last-second field goal. Samuel appears to be fully over the hamstring injury that sidelined him and will look to build on this excellent effort next Monday night against the Bills.

Impact The 49ers initially reported Samuel being listed as questionable, but it turns out he's been cleared to play. The team will need a lot from him this week, with fellow wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk on the reserve/COVID-19 list and TE George Kittle (foot) still on injured reserve. Samuel last played in a game Week 7, which was only his fourth appearance of the year. Between summer foot surgery, hamstring issues and the pandemic, his second pro season has been a lesson in bad luck. Samuel will catch passes from Nick Mullens on Sunday, facing a Rams defense that's been excellent defending the pass.

Impact Samuel has been beset by injuries this season, first a Jones fracture that extended three games into the regular season and most recently a hamstring issue that wiped out the last three contests. When he was on the field between Weeks 4 and 7, he compiled 16 catches, 199 yards from scrimmage and one touchdown. Fortunately, Samuel appears to be giving practice a shot to start Week 12 prep, but his activity level won't be known until later Wednesday.
