INJURIES

Stays limited Thursday Slayton (calf) practiced on a limited basis Thursday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Impact Slayton maintained his activity level from Wednesday as he tends to a calf issue, and he'll now have just one more opportunity to practice in full this week before the Giants potentially hand him a designation prior to Sunday's contest versus the Chargers. If he's able to avoid being inactive this weekend, he'll be working with rookie signal-caller Jaxson Dart, who is taking over for veteran Russell Wilson.

Limited in practice Slayton (calf) was a limited practice participant Wednesday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Impact It's a new injury, after Slayton played just 64 percent of snaps in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 23-9 loss to the Chiefs (he was on the field for 94.3 percent of New York's snaps this season beforehand). Coincidence or not, Slayton's ability to practice in any capacity at the start of the week suggests he's on track to play this Sunday against the Chargers in what will be the first career start for Giants QB Jaxson Dart.

Perfect on four targets Slayton recorded four receptions on four targets for 30 yards in Sunday's 22-9 loss to the Chiefs.
Impact The Giants couldn't get much going with their passing offense, consistently targeting their top playmakers on deep passes. Slayton was the exception, as he saw the majority of his opportunities in the short areas of the field, with his longest gain going for 14 yards. While Slayton earned a season-high in targets and receptions, both Malik Nabers and Wan'Dale Robinson will continue to be prioritized ahead of him in the offense.

Cleared for SNF Slayton (groin) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Chiefs, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Impact The same goes for Wan'Dale Robinson, whose early success has partially come at Slayton's expense. While never known for high target rates, Slayton will inevitably see more passes come his way if he doesn't lose his every-down role. His 82 routes run through Week 2 were sixth most in the league, but Slayton somehow got just four targets, while every other player with 80 or more routes (including teammate Malik Nabers) was targeted at least 13 times.

Logs another limited session Slayton (groin) was limited in Thursday's practice, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Impact Slayton's final chance to upgrade to full practice reps will come Friday, but after back-to-back limited sessions it appears he has a solid chance to suit up Sunday night versus the Chiefs. If clear to play Week 3, Slayton will continue operating as the No. 3 receiver behind Malik Nabers and Wan'Dale Robinson (foot) for New York.
SEPTEMBER 18, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Limited in practice Slayton (groin/calf) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Impact Slayton has played all but one of the Giants' offensive snaps through two weeks this season, though in that span he's brought in just two catches for 61 yards on five targets, with all of his production having come during Week 2's overtime loss to the Cowboys. While Slayton being limited Wednesday doesn't yet seem an indication that his status is genuinely in jeopardy for Sunday night's matchup against the Chiefs, he appears definitively positioned behind both Wan'Dale Robinson and superstar Malik Nabers in New York's wide receiver pecking order.

Hauls in 52-yard reception Slayton caught two of three targets for 61 yards in a Week 2 overtime loss to the Cowboys on Sunday.
Impact Slayton was shut out in the first half but salvaged a decent final line with 61 receiving yards after halftime. Most of that production came on a 52-yard connection with Russell Wilson midway through the third quarter. Despite that big play, it doesn't bode well for his place in New York's WR pecking order that Slayton saw just three targets despite playing all 65 of the team's offensive snaps, especially since Russell Wilson aired it out 41 times and gained 450 yards on 30 completions. It was already a given that Malik Nabers would hog the wideout targets for the Giants this season, but it's telling that Wan'Dale Robinson garnered 10 looks of his own and nabbed eight receptions for a career-high 142 yards Sunday. With just five targets (and two catches) through two weeks, Slayton doesn't appear to have established much chemistry with Wilson thus far.

Cleared for Week 2 Slayton (groin) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Cowboys, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Impact A mid-week addition to the injury report, Slayton apparently didn't have any issues during Friday's practice. He handled team-high 97 percent route share in last week's loss to Washington but somehow managed just one incomplete target on his 38 routes. Slayton should see more looks this Sunday but won't necessarily be featured even if Wan'Dale Robinson (questionable - ankle) doesn't end up playing.
SEPTEMBER 12, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Limited by groin Thursday Slayton was a limited participant in Thursday's practice due to a groin injury, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Impact New York didn't include Slayton on its initial Week 2 injury report that was released Wednesday, so his addition to the report Thursday could be indicative of an in-practice setback. Slayton will have one more chance to increase his practice activity Friday before the Giants decide whether he'll take a designation into Sunday's game against the Cowboys.

Darius Slayton's 9-1-1 warning is the message Giants fans didn't want to hear The New York Giants are staying calm after Week 1, but one wide receiver’s message might not land the way they hoped.
SEPTEMBER 10, 2025 • GMENHQ.COM
Held catchless in opener Slayton did not catch his only target against the Commanders in Sunday's Week 1 loss.
Impact Slayton was targeted by Russell Wilson just once on a day when the Giants' new quarterback heaved 37 total passes. Malik Nabers got a hefty amount of opportunities, as expected, with 12 targets, while Wan'Dale Robinson was pretty active with eight. Wilson completed just 17 of his 37 attempts for 168 yards, and if he continues to struggle the team may eventually turn to rookie Jaxson Dart, but head coach Brian Daboll confirmed Monday that Wilson will be the Week 2 starter Sunday in Dallas, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. With that in mind, Slayton doesn't project to be an appealing fantasy target for that contest.

Past undisclosed injury Slayton (undisclosed) played 10 snaps on offense but did not show up in the box score otherwise during the Giants' 31-12 preseason win over the Jets on Saturday.
Impact Slayton had been working through an undisclosed injury that caused him to miss the Giants' preseason opener against the Bills, but the 2019 fifth-rounder progressed enough in his recovery to suit up Saturday. Slayton is entering the final year of his two-year contract and is aiming to bounce back from a disappointing 2024 regular season in which his 39 catches for 573 yards were his lowest output since 2021 (26 catches for 339 yards). The Giants' quarterback situation in 2024 was shaky, but the addition of Russell Wilson should help raise Slayton's floor.
