GAME LOG

INJURIES

Gets eight touches in rout Ogunbowale carried the ball five times for two yards and caught three of four targets for 32 yards in Sunday's 40-20 win over the Cardinals.
Impact The veteran RB was expected to be used mostly on special teams as usual, but Woody Marks picked up an ankle injury in the first quarter and didn't see the field in the second half with the game well in hand. Jawhar Jordan, in his first career NFL action, wound up seeing the bulk of the backfield work in the second half, but Ogunbowale also nearly doubled his season touch total as he got significant work on offense as well. Either or both of Marks and Nick Chubb (ribs) could be back in Week 16 against the Raiders, but even if both remain sidelined, Ogunbowale would likely work behind Jordan once again.
DECEMBER 14 • ROTOWIRE
Will have normal role Week 15 Ogunbowale is expected to be a depth option Sunday, as Woody Marks, who opened the week with a knee injury, carries no injury designation ahead of the Week 15 matchup against the C...
Impact The preparation week started with both Marks and Nick Chubb (ribs) as non-participants in Wednesday's practice, opening a window slightly for Ogunbowale. Since then, Marks logged a limited practice Thursday and was a full participant Friday. Chubb sat out Thursday and got on the field Friday for a limited session, which included stretching on the side and working with the training staff. Ogunbowale could steal snaps from Chubb, but it looks like Marks should be a workhorse against Arizona.
DECEMBER 12 • ROTOWIRE
Possible lead role dims Ogunbowale's chances of being Houston's lead back dimmed Thursday, when Woody Marks (knee) was a limited participant.
Impact While Marks is trending in the right direction, Nick Chubb (ribs) is not. The latter was a DNP for a second straight day. If those trends continue heading into Sunday, then Ogunbowale could still be in line for increased volume on offense as the top backup to Marks.
DECEMBER 12 • ROTOWIRE
Awaits word on injured teammates Ogunbowale could be Houston's lead back Week 15 as both Woody Marks (knee) and Nick Chubb (ribs) were non participants at Wednesday's practice.
Impact During Sunday's 20-10 win over Kansas City, when Chubb was ruled out early and Marks was forced off the field for one play, Ogunbowale made the most of his one snap, rushing for a five-yard touchdown run. He could receive a greater volume of snaps this week against Arizona pending the health situation of the injured backs. Ogunbowale has never been a big factor as a runner; he has just four carries in 13 games this season and never had more than 42 in any of his four seasons with the Texans.

Texans end losing streak against Chiefs with dominant defense and Stroud's heroics

The Houston Texans finally vanquished their longtime nemesis with Sunday night’s win over the Kansas City Chiefs to boost their playoff hopes
DECEMBER 8 • Associated Press
Hits paydirt in win Ogunbowale had one carry for five yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-10 win over Kansas City in Week 14.
Impact On his only offensive snap of the game, Ogunbowale weaved his way through an opening and ran over a couple of Chiefs for the go-ahead touchdown. It was just his second red-zone carry of the season. The opportunity came about because Nick Chubb (ribs) had been earlier removed from the game, and Woody Marks was injured on the previous play. Depending on Chubb's health for Week 15 against Arizona, Ogunbowale could be in line for more snaps than usual on offense.
DECEMBER 8 • ROTOWIRE
Two touches in Week 8 win Ogunbowale played 13 of the Texans' 80 snaps on offense and finished with a nine-yard rush and an eight-yard reception in Sunday's 26-15 win over the 49ers.
Impact The Texans' special-teams captain, Ogunbowale is a staple of Houston's kick-coverage units, but he occasionally makes cameos on offense as a passing-down back. However, unless the Texans are without both of Nick Chubb and Woody Marks in a given week, Ogunbowale is unlikely to see enough snaps to warrant attention in fantasy circles. Through seven games, Ogunbowale has carried three times for 18 yards and has recorded three receptions for 25 yards on four targets.
OCTOBER 27 • ROTOWIRE
No run on offense Ogunbowale played on special teams only in Sunday's 17-10 loss to the Jaguars.
Impact This was the first time in three games that Ogunbowale did not get on the field with the offense. Houston is still without lead back Joe Mixon (foot), but only Nick Chubb and Woody Marks are benefitting. Both Ogunbowale and Dameon Pierce -- inactive for a second straight week -- have no meaningful role on offense.
SEPTEMBER 22 • ROTOWIRE
Plays 10 snaps in loss Ogunbowale was on the field for 10 offensive snaps but did not have a carry or was targeted in Monday's 20-19 loss to Tampa Bay in Week 2.
Impact The Texans made Dameon Pierce inactive for the contest, but Ogunbowale did not benefit in any tangible way. Instead, it was rookie Woody Marks (13 snaps) taking on a larger role. Ogunbowale remains an important special teams contributor for the Texans.

Texans look to regroup after late fumble seals 14-9 loss to Rams in season opener

C
SEPTEMBER 8 • Associated Press
Rare fumble seals team's fate Ogunbowale had two carries for nine yards, caught both of his targets for 17 yards and lost a fumble in Sunday's 14-9 loss to the Rams in Week 1.
Impact The lost fumble is all anyone will remember from Ogunbowale's day. It came late in the fourth quarter with the Texans inside the Los Angeles 20-yard line, and it was the team's final offensive play of the game. Ogunbowale had the ball punched from his arms and then the Rams killed the clock. It was just the third fumble (second one lost) in nine NFL seasons. On a positive note, his 17 snaps were the second-most in the backfield behind Nick Chubb (32) and ahead of Damien Pierce (seven) and Woody Marks (seven). Pierce is still considered the second back, but the way the game unfolded led to Ogunbowale, Houston's third-down back, being on the field more often.
SEPTEMBER 8 • ROTOWIRE
Projected for 53-man Ogunbowale is expected to earn a roster spot in the initial 53-man roster projection compiled by DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN.com.
Impact This is not shocking news, as Ogunbowale has organizational history on his side. He's filled a third-down role for the last three seasons in Houston and served on special teams. He's even been used as an emergency kicker. There could be an early-season bump in activity if Joe Mixon (ankle) opens the regular season on the non-football injury list.

AUGUST 11 • USATODAY.COM
Re-signs with Houston The Texans re-signed Ogunbowale to a one-year, $2 million deal Wednesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Impact The 30-year-old from Wisconsin will remain with the Texans after spending the last three seasons in Houston. Ogunbowale provides the team with a reliable third-down back, catching 41 of his 61 targets for 320 yards and one touchdown over 46 regular-season games since 2022, while also contributing on special teams. He's likely to play a similar role in 2025, serving as the Texans' No. 3 running back behind Joe Mixon and Dameon Pierce.
MARCH 5 • ROTOWIRE
Limited work Week 18 Ogunbowale had two carries for minus-3 yards and caught two of three targets for 26 yards in Sunday's 23-14 win over the Titans in Week 18.
Impact Ogunbowale played 12 snaps, which is a normal workload for the third-string back when all hands are healthy. Starter Joe Mixon was limited to one series while Dameon Pierce took up the bulk of playing time in the regular-season finale. Ogunbowale finished the regular season with 30 carries for 112 yards and 19 receptions (28 targets) for 198 yards and a touchdown catch over 17 games.

DECEMBER 15, 2024 • Associated Press
No touches in loss Ogunbowale did not have a carry and went untargeted over 13 snaps in Sunday's 32-27 loss to Tennessee in Week 12.
Impact Ogunbowale was the lone running back not named Joe Mixon to see time on offense, as Dameon Pierce worked on special teams only. That doesn't suggest Ogunbowale is the top backup to Mixon; Pierce would be the lead back in case Mixon was injured or unavailable.
NOVEMBER 25, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
One catch in win Ogunbowale caught his lone target for 11 yards in Monday's 34-10 victory over Dallas on Monday.
Impact Ogunbowale was limited to a season-low eight snaps, as Houston's offense featured a lot of Joe Mixon (22 touches, four targets). With Dameon Pierce's return from a two-game absence, Ogunbowale was back to third on the depth chart, although he got more snaps (eight) than Pierce (four). The catch was Ogunbowale's first in six weeks.
NOVEMBER 19, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
One touch in loss Ogunbowale had one carry for 11 yards in Sunday's 26-23 loss to the Lions in Week 10.
Impact Ogunbowale once again served as the top backup to Joe Mixon, as Dameon Pierce (hamstring) missed a second straight contest. It was the sixth game overall that Pierce has been inactive due to injury. Ogunbowale was on the field for 15 snaps, as Mixon once again dominated backfield playing time. Since Mixon returned from an injury Week 6, Ogunbowale has six rushes for 28 yards and failed to catch any of five targets.
NOVEMBER 11, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Lining up as top backup Week 10 Ogunbowale is expected to serve as the top backup to Joe Mixon, as Dameon Pierce (hamstring) has been ruled out of Sunday night's game against the Lions.
Impact Pierce will miss a second consecutive week, ceding the depth spots in the backfield to Ogunbowale and J.J. Taylor. There may not be much for either back to do, unless Mixon sustains an injury; in Week 9's loss to the Jets, Ogunbowale and Taylor combined for two touches and three targets (no catches).
NOVEMBER 9, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Quiet as top backup Ogunbowale had one carry for minus-1 yards and failed to catch any of his three targets in Thursday's 21-13 loss to the Jets.
Impact Ogunbowale was Houston's top backup at running back but did little in his 29 offensive snaps. With a healthy Joe Mixon, no backup would be expected to do much on the ground, but it was as a receiver where Ogunbowale could have made an impression. However, Houston's offensive line allowed pressure to quarterback C.J. Stroud, which made for a disjointed passing attack.
NOVEMBER 1, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
In line for backup role Ogunbowale could serve as the top backup in Thursday's game against the Jets, as Dameon Pierce (groin) did not practice for a second straight day Tuesday.
Impact Ogunbowale would move up the depth chart if Pierce is unable to heal in time for Week 9. The short week doesn't help. Ogunbowale filled in earlier this season when both Pierce and starter Joe Mixon missed time, with his high-water mark coming in Week 5's win over Buffalo when he had 21 touches. That kind of volume is not expected with Mixon in top form, but the short week could present opportunities for Ogunbowale, who already has more touches and targets than he did all last season.
OCTOBER 30, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Limited role again Ogunbowale had one carry for four yards and failed to catch his lone target in Sunday's 23-20 win over Indianapolis in Week 8.
Impact Ogunbowale was limited to one touch and one target for a second straight week. Ogunbowale did see more time on the field than Dameon Pierce, but both backs have cameos, as Joe Mixon continues to dominate Houston's backfield.
OCTOBER 28, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Limited role again Ogunbowale had one carry for four yards and failed to catch his lone target in Sunday's 23-20 win over Indianapolis.
Impact Ogunbowale was limited to one touch and one target for a second straight week. Ogunbowale did see more time on the field than Dameon Pierce, but both backs are playing cameo roles behind Joe Mixon, who continues to dominate Houston's backfield.
OCTOBER 28, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
One rush, one target in loss Ogunbowale had one carry for six yards and failed to catch his lone target in Sunday's 24-22 loss to the Packers in Week 7.
Impact Ogunbowale (15 snaps) and Dameon Pierce (seven snaps, two carries) were barely involved in what was the second game back from injury for starter Joe Mixon (42 snaps). With both Mixon and Pierce back from injuries, Ogunbowale is not needed much as a runner, but his third-down duties keeps him relevant, although not so much for fantasy managers.
