The Las Vegas Raiders have placed rookie cornerback Damon Arnette on the reserve/COVID-19 list

Shifts to COVID list Arnette (thumb) was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Impact Arnette was already on injured reserve following an October thumb surgery. The rookie cornerback either tested positive for the virus or came into close contact with an infected person, and he won't be able to return to team activities until he clears the NFL's COVID-19 protocols.

Shifts to IR The Raiders placed Arnette (thumb) on injured reserve Friday.

Impact Arnette will be eligible to return to the lineup in Week 7 against the Buccaneers, but he's expected to need 6-to-8 weeks following thumb surgery. The rookie first-rounder was an immediate starter for the Raiders and compiled 13 tackles and a pass breakup through three games, but for the time being, Amik Robertson and Keisean Nixon will likely both see an uptick in usage behind starters Trayvon Mullen and Lamarcus Joyner.

Impact While Arnette hasn't officially been placed on IR yet, this news comes as no surprise given his expected recovery time of 6-to-8 weeks. When he goes on IR, Arnette will need to miss a minimum of three weeks, so the earliest we could see the rookie first-rounder again will be Week 7 against Tampa Bay.
