Catches two passes from rookie QB Olave (ankle) caught two of four targets for 12 yards in Sunday's 17-17 preseason tie against the Jaguars.

Impact Olave saw his first game action since Week 9 of the 2024 regular season, when he suffered a season-ending concussion. He then missed the Saints' preseason opener against the Chargers due to an ankle injury. The 2022 first-round pick has regained health, but he could be held back by questionable quarterback play in 2025. Both of Olave's catches Sunday came on passes from rookie second-round pick Tyler Shough, who is competing against Spencer Rattler for the starting role after Derek Carr retired in the offseason. New Orleans hasn't settled on a starting QB ahead of the team's final preseason game against the Broncos on Saturday.

Impact Olave has been dealing with an ankle injury and was sidelined for the Saints' preseason opener against the Chargers. He'll join Alvin Kamara and Rashid Shaheed in warmups, but it's far from a guarantee that Olave sees the field Sunday, and even if he does he would likely be limited to one or two offensive series. The Saints' depth wideouts should see the bulk of the workload Sunday, including Brandin Cooks, Cedrick Wilson, Mason Tipton and Kevin Austin.

Unlikely to play Sunday Based on pre-game warmups, Olave (ankle) is not in line to play in Sunday's preseason opener against the Chargers, Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.

Impact Neither Olave or Rashid Shaheed were spotted warming up with the other Saints wideouts, and it appears the duo will be sidelined for Sunday's contest, leaving Brandin Cooks, Bub Means and Cedrick Wilson as the top wideouts. Olave is working through a minor ankle injury, and his next opportunity to suit up will be against the Jaguars on Sunday, Aug. 17.

Impact Olave was able to finish Thursday's practice after getting his ankle taped and the injury is considered day-to-day, per Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football. It could prevent Olave from playing in Sunday's preseason game against the Chargers, which would open the door for Bub Means and Cedrick Wilson to work with Rashid Shaheed and Brandin Cooks in three-man wideout sets.

Impact Olave participated in the offseason program, so this was the expected news entering training camp. Nonetheless, it's noteworthy considering Olave's history of concussions. Olave was able to play in just eight regular-season games last season, and he's now going to be catching passes from someone other than Derek Carr in 2025.
