There's an expectation Godwin doesn't suit up Thursday at Chicago, but it'd be a great sign for his health if he's able to get back on the practice field this week. In Godwin's stead, Miller racked up five catches (on seven targets) for 83 yards and one touchdown Sunday versus the Chargers.

Impact In a report from Jenna Laine and Dan Graziano of ESPN.com early this past week, it was rumored that Godwin was in line to miss multiple games, the result of the Bucs having two games in a five-day span. Indeed, Godwin didn't suit up Week 4, and now his standing will be monitored with just a handful of days to prepare for the Bears. It's worth noting Mike Evans briefly left Sunday's win versus the Chargers with an ankle injury as well, which could improve the stock of Scotty Miller and Justin Watson in the short term.

Impact Reports earlier this week suggested Godwin was in danger of missing multiple games, and it doesn't help his cause that the Bucs play on Thursday Night Football against the Bears in Week 5. He didn't practice at all this week, so a return for the Thursday game doesn't seem especially likely. Fellow wideout Justin Watson has been cleared to return from a shoulder injury for Sunday's game, while Scotty Miller (hip) appears questionable.

Impact Jenna Laine and Dan Graziano of ESPN.com reported a day earlier that Godwin is likely to be sidelined for the Buccaneers' next two games, so his lack of practice activity Wednesday and Thursday doesn't come as a major surprise. Scotty Miller (hip/groin) is also missing his second practice in a row, so the Buccaneers could be shorthanded at receiver if neither he nor Godwin are cleared to play Sunday against the Chargers. Justin Watson and Tyler Johnson would be the top candidates to join Mike Evans in three-receiver sets if both Godwin and Miller are out.

Impact Godwin's lack of reps Wednesday doesn't come as a shock after Jenna Laine and Dan Graziano of ESPN reported earlier that the wideout is expected to sit out Sunday's game against the Chargers, and perhaps the Bucs' Week 5 game in Chicago as well. Those games are within five days of each other, so the Buccaneers seem to be focused on getting Godwin healthy for a Week 6 showdown with the Packers. Meanwhile, Scotty Miller (hip) also didn't practice Wednesday, so Tampa Bay is left with Mike Evans, Justin Watson (shoulder), Jaydon Mickens and Tyler Johnson as its healthiest options at wide receiver.

Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Godwin underwent an MRI earlier this week that revealed a minor strain, and given that the wideout also missed time late last season with a hamstring issue, the Buccaneers may be incentivized to take things slowly with him. On a more positive note, the Buccaneers don't believe Godwin's injury is a long-term concern, as the team is hopeful he'll be ready to play again no later than the Week 6 game versus Green Bay.
