Targeted once in defeat
Claypool was held without a catch in the Bears' 41-10 loss to the Lions on Sunday.
Impact
Although Justin Fields threw 21 passes, one one of those throws went in Claypool's direction. He's only reached 30 yards once since Week 9, and he'll be difficult to trust in fantasy lineups in Week 18 against the Vikings.

Active for Week 17
Claypool (knee) is active for Sunday's matchup against the Lions.
Impact
As expected, Claypool will suit up Sunday for the first time since Week 13. Before suffering the knee injury, the 2020 second-round pick totaled 21 receptions on 36 targets for 197 yards across his first seven games with Chicago. With Darnell Mooney (ankle) on injured reserve, Claypool figures to operate as the Bears' No. 1 wideout in a group that also features Equanimeous St. Brown, Byron Pringle, Velus Jones, N'Keal Harry and Dante Pettis.

Expected to play in Detroit
Claypool (knee) is expected to suit up for Sunday's divisional matchup against the Lions, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Impact
Claypool is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's matchup, but it looks like he's trending in the right direction. An official word on Claypool's status will come prior to Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff. If Claypool is indeed active, he has a reasonable path to serving as the target leader of Justin Fields' diminished receiving corps. Dante Pettis (knee) remains questionable, while Equanimeous St. Brown has cleared the concussion protocol in time to play Sunday.

Questionable for Sunday
Claypool (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game in Detroit.
Impact
Dante Pettis (ankle) also is questionable, while Equanimeous St. Brown has been cleared from concussion protocol. If he returns this weekend, Claypool will be among the favorites to lead a receiver-depleted Bears offense in targets, though he was playing limited snaps before the knee injury and only returned to practice Thursday for the first time since Week 13 (and was limited both Thursday and Friday). The Lions and Bears are scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff this Sunday, with inactives coming out about 90 minutes beforehand.

Back as limited participant
Claypool (knee) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday.
Impact
After missing the last two games due to a knee injury, Claypool made his return to practice for the first time since Week 13. This marks his first visible sign of progress in his recovery effort, but it remains to be seen if he'll gain clearance to play Sunday at Detroit. Equanimeous St. Brown (concussion) also was limited Thursday, while Dante Pettis (ankle) sat out, so the Bears have a number of question marks in the receiving corps in the midst of Week 17 prep.

Doesn't practice Wednesday
Claypool (knee) was a non-participant at Wednesday's practice.
Impact
Claypool has been dealing with a knee issue for the better part of the last month, and while he played Week 13 against the Packers, he's missed two straight games since the Bears' Week 14 bye. He hasn't made a noticeable step forward in his recovery from the injury, but he has two more chances to mix into drills this week before the Bears potentially make a decision on his availability for Sunday's contest at Detroit.

Inactive Saturday, as expected
Claypool (knee) is officially inactive for Saturday's game against the Bills.
Impact
Claypool was labeled doubtful after he put in only one limited practice this week, so he's unsurprisingly not available for Saturday's contest. Equanimeous St. Brown (concussion) is also sidelined, leaving Byron Pringle, Dante Pettis, Velus Jones and N'Keal Harry to operate as Chicago's primary wideouts.

Status in doubt for Saturday
Claypool (knee) is listed as doubtful for Saturday's game against the Bills.
Impact
Claypool has managed just one limited listing on Bears injury reports the last two weeks due to a knee issue, which appears destined to sideline him for a second consecutive contest. Equanimeous St. Brown (concussion) already has been ruled out for Week 16 action, so assuming Claypool joins him on the sideline Saturday, Chicago will be rolling with some combination of Byron Pringle, Dante Pettis, Velus Jones and N'Keal Harry (back) at wide receiver.

Skips out on practice Wednesday
Claypool (knee) didn't practice Wednesday.
Impact
Prior to sitting out this past Sunday's loss to the Eagles, Claypool was held out of every Week 15 session as he tended to a knee injury. The Bears opened Week 16 prep with a walk-through session Tuesday, for which he was listed as a limited participant, but the third-year pro fell back to no activity one day later. Claypool has just one more chance to get on-field work Thursday before Chicago potentially makes a ruling on his availability for Saturday's game against the Bills. Equanimeous St. Brown (concussion) also sat out both Tuesday and Wednesday, so the team is staring down the prospect of being without its top two wide receivers this weekend.

Limited to kick off Week 16 prep
Claypool (knee) was a limited participant in Tuesday's practice.
Impact
Claypool failed to practice in any capacity last week before sitting out the Bears' 25-20 loss to the Eagles on Sunday, so his return to the field in limited fashion as Chicago begins Week 16 prep marks a step in the right direction. The receiver will have two more chances to upgrade to full activity before the Bears potentially give him an injury designation ahead of Saturday's game versus the Bills.
