Working out for Saints on Tuesday Claypool has a tryout with the Saints on Tuesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Impact Claypool last saw NFL action in January 2024 as a member of the Dolphins during the team's 26-7 wild-card loss at Kansas City. Since then, he spent the 2024 offseason with the Bills before being released in August and later had a tryout with the Packers in May of this year. Joining Claypool on a tryout basis Tuesday was Josh Reynolds, as the Saints currently boast a banged-up receiving corps headlined by rookie first-round pick Jordyn Tyson, who is expected to miss two months due to a hamstring injury.

Trying out with Green Bay The Packers brought Claypool in for a tryout Friday, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Impact Claypool has bounced around the NFL in his six-year tenure. The wide receiver was juggled between the Steelers and Bears twice before being dealt to Miami from Chicago. Eventually, he ended up on the Bills' practice squad before suffering a toe injury that kept him out of the 2025 season. The Packers had interest in the wide receiver during his initial trade to the Bears, and will finally get a chance with the 27-year-old. If Claypool can live up to his second-round stature, he could prove to be an adequate replacement for Dontayvion Wicks, who was traded to the Eagles in early April.

Impact After signing with Buffalo last May, Claypool was making a push to secure a role in the team's wideout corps ahead of the 2024 season, but a toe injury that the 26-year-old suffered last summer ended up sidelining him for the entire campaign. Since then, Claypool has been rehabbing and recovering with an eye toward moving past the issue and resuming his NFL career. The 2020 second-rounder last saw regular-season action in 2023, when he caught eight passes (on 21 targets) in 12 games (three with the Bears and nine with the Dolphins) for 77 yards and a TD.

Impact The Bills placed Claypool on injured reserve Tuesday, but following Thursday's injury settlement, the veteran wideout is now free to catch on elsewhere once he's past a toe issue that he sustained July 28. Unless he ends up in an ideal situation, however, the 2020 second-rounder seems unlikely to make much of a fantasy impact early on this season.

Impact Claypool has now missed over a week of practices, and his status for Saturday's preseason opener against the Bears is in question. The Bills signed the 2020 second-rounder this offseason as a high-upside dart to fill out their receiving room, but right now Claypool is no certainty to even make the Week 1 roster, which is in a huge state of flux after a top three of Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman and Curtis Samuel.
