INJURIES

Agrees to injury settlement The Panthers released Sims (undisclosed) from the reserve/PUP list with an injury settlement Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Impact After being placed on the active/PUP list at the start of training camp with an unspecified injury, Sims was moved to the reserve/PUP list July 26. Now that he's reached an injury settlement, he will have the opportunity to join another team once he is fully healthy. His last NFL action was in 2022 with the Commanders, when he recorded eight catches on 18 targets for 89 yards across 17 regular-season games.

Moved to reserve/PUP list The Panthers placed Sims (undisclosed) on the reserve/PUP list Friday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.
Impact Sims had previously been placed on the active/PUP list, and in moving to the reserve/PUP list, he now won't count as part of the Panthers' 90-man roster. Carolina will have until cut-down day to determine if the wideout will be activated or remain on the reserve/PUP list, in which case he'd need to sit out the first four games of the campaign. Sims had been looking to vie for a roster spot in training camp after signing with Carolina on a reserve/future contract in January.

Lands on PUP list The Panthers placed Sims (undisclosed) on the active/PUP list Saturday, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Impact Sims signed a reserve/future contract with Carolina in January after jumping around between the practice squads of multiple organizations last year. He could still have a chance in training camp to compete for a spot on the Panthers' 53-man roster, but he'll need to pass a physical before he's eligible to practice and play in preseason contests.
JULY 20, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Signs with Panthers The Panthers signed Sims to a reserve/future contract Monday, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports.
Impact Sims started the 2023 season being cut by the Raiders after training camp. He then spent time with on the practice squads of the Giants and Eagles before landing with the Panthers on Dec. 6. Sims didn't play a game this season, but he will have a chance to make Carolina's 53-man roster in 2024.

Finds new opportunity Sims signed with the Eagles' practice squad Thursday.
Impact Sims joined the Raiders in the offseason after spending the first five years of his career in Washington. However, the Alabama product was unable to make the 53-man roster there and ultimately ended up with the Giants' practice squad for a short stint earlier this season. Sims will now provide positional depth for Philadelphia.

Heading to Vegas Sims agreed to a contract with the Raiders on Monday, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.
Impact Sims will try to carve out a larger role in Vegas after being buried on the depth chart in Washington since 2018. The 27-year-old wide receiver had eight catches last season.
MARCH 21, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Finishes season with eight catches Sims was held without a catch in Sunday's 26-6 win over Dallas, thus finishing the 2022 season with eight catches for 89 yards on 17 targets.
Impact Sims turned 27 in early January and has now made 55 career appearances since first catching on with Washington in early 2018. He's made 17 starts over the years but is rarely targeted even when he gets a lot of playing time, and his only chance at extensive snaps in 2022 came when rookie Jahan Dotson suffered a hamstring injury in October. Even then, Sims never saw more than two targets in a game despite playing at least 59 percent of snaps four weeks in a row. The Commanders seem to value the 6-5 wideout for his blocking and special-teams experience, so he could be back with the team in 2023 even though he's scheduled for unrestricted free agency.
JANUARY 9, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Suiting up Sunday night Sims (back) has been ruled active for Sunday Night Football against the Giants.
Impact Sims will suit up for his 14th game of the season despite being limited in each practice Week 15 with a back injury. He'll likely continue to slot in alongside Dax Milne as Washington's No. 5 and No. 6 receivers in this pivotal divisional matchup.
DECEMBER 19, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Questionable with back injury Sims (back) is considered questionable to play in Week 15 against the Giants, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Impact Sims was limited in practice all week while dealing with a back injury, placing uncertainty on his availability for Sunday's matchup with New York. If he's unable to go, the wide receiver's absence wouldn't carry much of an impact on the Commanders' offensive game plan.
DECEMBER 16, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Remains limited Sims (back) logged a limited practice Thursday, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.
Impact Sims was limited for the second consecutive day ahead of Sunday's game with the Giants. The 26-year-old has seen just 15 snaps on offense over the team's two previous contests, so his potential Week 15 absence would likely not be of significance to the Commanders' offense. However, he'll work to ramp up his activity Friday to increase his odds of suiting up Sunday.
DECEMBER 15, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Ranks fifth in receiver snaps Sims played nine snaps on offense and went without a target in Sunday's 19-13 win over the Falcons.
Impact For the first time since Week 4, Sims failed to draw a look in the passing game. With all of Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson, Curtis Samuel and Dyami Brown available to the Commanders, Sims' opportunities to contribute at receiver will likely be few and far between over the final six weeks of the season.
NOVEMBER 29, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Fails to corral lone target Sims finished Monday's 32-21 win over the Eagles with no receptions on one target across 27 snaps on offense.
Impact Sims' 33 percent offensive snap share was his lowest mark since Week 4, when he was on the field for just six percent of the Commanders' plays. Unsurprisingly, Sims' drop in playing time coincided with the return of Jahan Dotson (34 snaps, 41 percent share), who stepped in as the No. 3 receiver after missing the last five games with a hamstring injury. Dotson's role is only expected to grow bigger in the weeks to come, so Sims could see his snap shares dip back into the single digits in future weeks while he becomes more marginalized as the No. 4 wideout.
NOVEMBER 16, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Held to one catch Sims caught his lone target for 12 yards in Sunday's 20-17 loss to Minnesota.
Impact Sims played 44 percent of snaps on offense, after four straight games at 59 percent or higher. It didn't make much difference in the final stat line, with this being his fifth week in a row with exactly one reception, though he did it on two targets rather than one the previous four times. Dyami Brown and Dax Milne also have gotten some playing time while Jahan Dotson (hamstring) has been on the shelf, and whatever slight opportunity Sims currently has will evaporate if Dotson, Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel are all healthy at the same time. It remains to be seen if Dotson can return for Week 10 at the Eagles or Week 11 at Houston.
NOVEMBER 7, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Targeted twice on 49 snaps Sims played 80 percent of the offensive snaps in Sunday's 17-16 win over Indianapolis, catching one of two targets for 21 yards.
Impact With Jahan Dotson (hamstring) out for a fourth straight game and Dyami Brown (groin) inactive as well, Sims made his second start of the season and topped a 50 percent snap share for a fourth straight game. It's the third year in a row injuries higher up on the depth chart have allowed Sims to make multiple starts, and per usual he's near the bottom of the league in targets per route/snap, having yet to see more than two passes in a game even with all the playing time. Expectations should remain low if he gets another start in Week 9 against Minnesota.
OCTOBER 31, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Playing limited snaps Sims didn't draw a target while playing four snaps on offense in Sunday's 25-10 loss to Dallas.
Impact Sims has drawn single-digit snaps in each of Washington's first four games and has thus far been held without a catch on three targets. His playing-time outlook could improve Week 5 against the Titans, as rookie wideout Jahan Dotson (hamstring) is unlikely to be available.
OCTOBER 5, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Targeted twice Sims finished without any catches on two targets in a 36-27 loss to Detroit on Sunday.
Impact The 6-5 wideout has played 16 offensive snaps through two games, barely seeing the field behind Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson and Curtis Samuel. Sims has never seen many targets even when he plays a lot, and that's unlikely to change on a Washington team that suddenly has no shortage of weapons. Sims figures to again see most of his work on special teams Week 3 against Philadelphia.

Re-signs with Washington Sims re-signed Wednesday with the Commanders on a two-year, $3 million contract, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Impact Sims sticks with the only team he's ever known, having mostly served as a backup since first catching on with Washington in 2018. He made 10 starts in 2020 and finished the season with 477 yards, but then dropped to a 15-211-2 receiving line in 14 games last season (three starts). He'll likely be fourth or fifth on the wideout depth chart entering training camp this summer.

MARCH 2, 2022 • WASHINGTONPOST.COM
Finishes year with 15 catches Sims finished the 2021 season with 15 catches for 211 yards and two touchdowns on 23 targets, making three starts in 14 games.
Impact Sims finished out the season as Washington's No. 2 receiver -- at least in terms of snaps -- for the second straight year, though this time he made only three starts instead of 10. In addition to starting seven fewer contests than in 2020, he finished with about half the receiving production in each category, apart from TDs (32-477-1 on 48 targets in 2020). The 26-year-old Sims is now scheduled for free agency this spring, and he should catch on somewhere as a depth receiver and special teams player if he doesn't re-sign with Washington first. It'll be more of a surprise if he attracts serious interest as a potential starter, given that he struggled to make his presence felt the past two years even when he got more playing time.
FEBRUARY 3, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Racks up four catches Sims recorded four catches on five targets for 48 yards in Sunday's 20-16 loss to Philadelphia.
Impact Sims continued to see a significant role in Washington's offense, and he managed a season-high in targets and receptions. He also finished second on the team in yards behind only Terry McLaurin on the strength of catches that went for 18, 16 and 12 yards. Sims should maintain a similar role for a Week 18 matchup against the Giants, though Washington's offensive inconsistency make it difficult to expect strong production.
