INJURIES

Uncertain for Sunday Wright (groin) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Green Bay, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.
Impact Wright was a limited practice participant throughout the week, after missing last week's game on the reserve/COVID-19 list. His return to the lineup would leave fewer snaps for Jared Pinkney and Ross Travis, neither of whom was targeted in last week's loss to Seattle. The 23-year-old Wright did play 75 percent of snaps Week 15 and 73 percent Week 16, but with only three catches for four yards on four targets between the two games. A solid outing Week 18 could help him stick around on the depth chart behind T.J. Hockenson (IR/hand) next year.

Limited again Thursday Wright (groin) remained limited at Thursday's practice.
Impact The tight end opened the week with a limited practice Wednesday and was at that level again Thursday. Wright still has Friday's practice to ramp up his activity ahead of the Lions' season finale versus the Packers on Sunday.
JANUARY 6, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Limited practice Wednesday Wright was a limited participant in practice Wednesday due to a groin injury.
Impact The tight end was activated off the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday after his positive test for the virus forced to miss the Lions' Week 17 loss to the Seahawks. Wright wasn't known to be dealing with an injury prior to landing on the list, but his ability to practice Wednesday in any capacity bodes well for his chances to play Sunday against the Packers.

Lions struggle toward finish line with what's left of roster

It has been a long season for the Detroit Lions, and there is still more adversity ahead
JANUARY 3, 2022 • Associated Press
Off COVID-19 list The Lions reinstated Wright (illness) from the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday.
Impact Wright was unable to clear the NFL's COVID-19 return-to-play protocol in advance of Sunday's 51-29 loss to the Seahawks, resulting in him missing his first game since being promoted from the practice squad back in Week 7. Neither of the two tight ends Detroit had active Week 17 -- Jared Pinkney and Ross Travis -- drew a target in the loss, so Wright should be relatively unchallenged as he reclaims the starting job for this weekend's season finale versus Green Bay. Since settling into a larger role when T.J. Hockenson (thumb) was shut down for the season after Week 13, Wright has recorded six receptions for 24 yards on nine targets over three games.

Not playing Week 17 Wright (illness) won't be available for Sunday's game in Seattle after the Lions didn't activate him from the reserve/COVID-19 list prior to Saturday's deadline for week 17 roster...
Impact Detroit will be without three of its top pass catchers in Wright and wideouts Josh Reynolds and Kalif Raymond, all of whom tested positive for the virus this week and weren't able to exit the NFL's COVID-19 return-to-play protocol. With both T.J. Hockenson (thumb) and Shane Zylstra (kneecap) done for the season, Wright was expected to dominate the snaps at tight end for Detroit's final two games before he landed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday. With Wright out this week, the Lions will likely turn to a combination of Jared Pinkney and Ross Travis to play snaps at the position.
JANUARY 2, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Placed on reserve/COVID-19 list Wright (illness) was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday.
Impact Wright tested positive for COVID-19 Tuesday and will now enter the NFL's protocols for the virus. The tight end operated as the Lions' top option at the position in Week 16 against the Falcons, catching three balls for four yards in the loss. With his status for Week 17 against the Seahawks in question, Jared Pinkney may step into a starting role.

Grabs three short passes Wright caught three of three targets for four yards during Sunday's 20-16 loss to Atlanta.
Impact Wright got back in the box score after going catchless last week in Arizona, but all of his looks were at or near the line of scrimmage. While the loss of Shane Zylstra (knee) could cement him as Detroit's clear-cut No. 1 tight end, the Notre Dame product doesn't seem to have the skill set or role to be a worthwhile fantasy contributor in Week 17 against Seattle.
DECEMBER 26, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
No catches against Arizona Wright was targeted once but did not catch a pass during Sunday's 30-12 win over the Cardinals.
Impact Wright trailed Shane Zylstra in offensive snaps last week against Denver, but this time Wright logged three quarters of the playing time while Zylstra was held under half of it. However, neither tight end found much success as a receiver despite Detroit finding immense offensive success. As such, neither of Wright or Zylstra is worth much fantasy consideration, especially with Jared Goff (COVID-19) uncertain to play Sunday against Atlanta.
DECEMBER 21, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Three catches without Hockenson Wright caught three of five passes for 20 yards during Sunday's loss to the Broncos.
Impact Wright seemed in store for a heightened load with T.J. Hockenson (hand) sidelined. While Wright was certainly more involved as a receiver, he did it while not topping 60 percent of the offensive snaps. Instead, Shane Zylstra led Detroit tight ends in snaps, though neither managed a useful stat line for fantasy purposes. Even if Hockenson remains sidelined in Week 15 against Arizona, neither Wright or Zylstra will be worthy of much fantasy consideration.

In line for No. 1 duties Sunday Wright is set to serve as the Lions' top tight end Sunday in Denver with T.J. Hockenson (hand) doubtful to play in the contest, Justin Rogers of The Detroit News reports.
Impact An undrafted rookie, Wright didn't make it past roster cut-down day at the end of the preseason, but the Lions elevated him from the practice squad twice before signing him to the active roster for good Nov. 8 in the wake of Darren Fells' release. Since the Lions' Week 9 bye, Wright has earned between 28 and 51 percent of offensive snaps over the last four games, compiling four catches (on six targets) for 42 yards and one touchdown. The team will be without its top two running backs D'Andre Swift (shoulder) and Jamaal Williams (COVID-19) on Sunday, so Detroit may air it out a bit more than usual.

Snags first career touchdown Wright caught two of three targets for 28 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's 29-27 win over Minnesota.
Impact Running as the No. 2 tight end behind T.J. Hockenson, Wright took advantage of a Vikings defense without top linebackers Eric Kendricks or Anthony Barr to score his first career touchdown. However, he's caught a pass in just half of his first six career games since the undrafted tight end was first promoted from the practice squad in late October. Wright would need to build upon this performance in a big way in order to enter the fantasy conversation.

DECEMBER 5, 2021 • DETROITLIONS.COM
Running as No. 2 tight end Wright secured his only target for two yards during Sunday's 16-16 tie with Pittsburgh.
Impact With Darren Fells now in Tampa Bay, Wright is the second tight end on the depth chart under T.J. Hockenson. However, the 6-foot-7, 281-pound blocking specialist is unlikely to become a productive receiving threat at any point down the road.
NOVEMBER 15, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Moved to active roster Wright was moved to the active roster Monday, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.
Impact Wright was an undrafted free against out of Notre Dame, who has been with the Lions since camp. He was active in Week 7 and 8, playing 31 snaps on offense and 30 on special teams. Wright has yet to see his first NFL target. In a corresponding move the Lions released veteran TE Darren Fells.
NOVEMBER 8, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Back to practice squad Wright reverted to Philadelphia's practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.
Impact Wright was brought up to the active roster for Week 8 against the Lions, and he logged 16 snaps on offense along with 10 on special teams. This marks the second game in a row that he's made an appearance.
NOVEMBER 2, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Elevated ahead of Week 8 Wright has been elevated from the practice squad ahead of Sunday's game against the Eagles.
Impact Wright did the same prior to the Week 7 tilt against the Rams and played a total of 15 offensive snaps with 20 more on special teams. He'll likely revert back to the practice squad after the game.
OCTOBER 30, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Returns to practice squad Wright reverted to Detroit's practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.
Impact Wright was elevated to the active roster ahead of Week 7 against the Rams, and he managed to make his season debut. He logged 17 snaps on offense and 20 on special teams, registering one tackle on kick coverage.

THE DAILY DRIVE: Detroit Lions activate TE Brock Wright, S Jalen Elliott from practice squad for Rams game Jared Goff's starting job secure for now as Lions continue their evaluations
OCTOBER 24, 2021 • DETROITLIONS.COM
Elevated by Detroit Wright was elevated from the Lions' practice squad Saturday.
Impact T.J. Hockenson (knee) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Rams, so Wright will join the active roster to provide additional depth. The Notre Dame graduate has yet to debut in the NFL.
OCTOBER 23, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Waived by Lions Wright was waived by the Lions on Tuesday, Kyle Meinke of MLive.com reports.
Impact Detroit opted to keep only two tight ends on the roster, but it seems likely that the team will find depth through waivers. Meanwhile, Wright could be a candidate for the practice squad.
AUGUST 31, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Manages one reception Wright caught one pass for 11 yards during Friday's preseason loss to the Colts.
Impact Wright may be the favorite for the No. 3 job at tight end considering he clearly played ahead of Alize Mack. However, it wouldn't be a surprise if the Lions were to bring in another tight end as other teams imminently trim their rosters to 53 players in the coming days.
