Impact Speaks signed a reserve/future contract with the Giants back in January, previously having spent time on the Raiders' practice squad last season. With New York needing to make room for a slew of UDFA signings, Speaks will now have to look for another depth opportunity.

Joins Giants The Giants signed Speaks to a reserve/future contract Thursday, Zack Rosenblatt of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.

Impact Speaks spent time with the Raiders' practice squad during the regular season, and he'll look to stand out in New York during the offseason. Since being selected by Kansas City with a 2018 second-round pick, knee injuries and a suspension have derailed Speaks' pro career thus far, making him a relatively low-risk, high-reward signing for the Giants.

Signs with practice squad The Raiders signed Speaks to the practice squad Friday.

Impact A 2018 second-round pick, Speaks' career has been derailed by a knee injury and a suspension in December of 2019 for violating the league's substance abuse policy. His suspension is expected to be lifted following Week 4, so he could add depth at defensive end for the Raiders moving forward.

Cut by Kansas City The Chiefs waived Speaks on Sunday.

Impact The 24-year-old didn't see action in any regular season games after playing all 16 in 2018. Speaks dealt with knee issues and a suspension for the league's substance-abuse policy in 2019. He'll look to find a depth role elsewhere after he produced 24 tackles and 1.5 sacks in a promising rookie campaign in 2018.
